These games are all [Mark May] except UNC/KY. Oregon/Kansas could be OK but who could like either team?
I thought every Sweet16 game was great except for Purdue-Kansas.

I don't root for the blue bloods, but I think they have the inside track. I thought UCLA was the best team I had seen all year. Before the tourney I had them, followed by Kansas, NC, Arizona, Duke and Kentucky as the best. It helps to have pros and those teams have them. UCLA didn't play as well as they are capable, and Ky is like a different team defensively than they were a month ago. But given who is left, I guess I would consider Kansas the team to beat.

S Car and Xavier are the party crashers. I love anyone who beats Duke, so I have become a fan of SC. What they are doing defensively is ridiculous. There's a team we like that could study the effort and intensity those guys are playing with.

Florida vs South Carolina for a trip to the Final Four. Try to contain your excitement. :bored:

Rooting against Florida because fuck Florida.
That is why I wanted Bucky to beat Florida. All we are going to hear tonight and tomorrow and next season is how great that conference is in basketball and everything else. It does not matter that most of the guys playing sports down there cannot read or write.

The only saving grace is South Carolina has never reached the Elite 8 (until now), much less the Final Four. That, and fuck Florida, gives me a mild rooting interest in the game. But yeah, Bucky vs Cocky would've been more interesting to me.

Last night, the monotony of press conferences was graciously interrupted with a phenomenal question from a young child:

Wanting to counter-act that goodness, David wins the award for worst tweet of the night:

Naturally he doubles down and whines 3 more times about how being distracted keeps him from doing his job, and then resumes this in the morning. He tried to explain that his whine was about the Florida game (after the above greatness), as though there's a good time to bash children.

For any of you that listen to full press conferences, you know there are (and probably can identify the origin of) many dreadful questions that make you cringe for anyone unlucky enough to be in the room, let alone be judged as a peer of that level of stupidity. On cue, here's some gems that David didn't seem to care about:

edit: and his gaffe is now a national story

I see he has the Presidential way of saying he didn't say what he clearly said too

Haha. That dude is a massive dickhead. That was in no way an off-topic question since anyone who watched that game could see that South Carolina's intensity on the defensive end set the tone for the whole game.
Technically he was whining about some other question from the later game. That nuance does not really matter:

1) He's trashing a kid. Nothing else really matters, but just for the sake of discussion

2) The kid asked a better question that night than 95% of beat reporters throughout this tournament. He's allowed to have a weaker one.

3) His peers asked much dumber questions yet he didn't call them out (and reporters do that constantly).

4) The self-important jerk is wasting his own time repeatedly whining about other people wasting his time, meanwhile his deadline has not changed.

Also, Dennis Dodd apparently felt left out

:slappy: the profession he says

Sportswriters are on the same end of the spectrum with used car salesmen and carpetbaggers

It's one thing to be a clown, it's another to double down on it by being so unaware as to think you are part of some kind of well respected profession.

The last West Coast Conference team to reach the Final Four was San Francisco, two years AFTER Bill Russell joined the Boston Celtics. Fifty years later, it's Gonzaga.
