Malik Zaire (QB Notre Dame, transfer to Florida Gators)

To be honest, I was impressed with his sophomore film for, like you said, a kid that has grown up in a run first system.

I was pretty blown away with his improvement from his sophomore film to his junior film. He looks like the most college ready quarterback to come out of Ohio in years from a passing stand point. He's neck and neck with Thomas and Price for #3 in the state next year, imo.

I sure think so...imo Zaire is the clear #3 for next year, maybe even over Burrows for #2. I wouldn't be surprised to see him pushing for 5 star status with how he is progressing. He just throws a beautiful ball and with such precision on all his throws, even the intermediate routes across the field.

As for seeing him in a program that passes the ball more...talk is that might happen, but I'm not so sure.

Highlight films are one thing, but in the only full game I saw, he was pretty inconsistent.

Granted he only threw it a handful of times, but I would guess he has further to go as a quarterback than his film would suggest, just based on sheer lack of repetitions throwing the football.

I like Zaire but westbuck is on it and don't think 247 really have any idea what they're doing with their rankings for 2013 so far. Rankings seem to be based on offer lists and highlight tapes with their biggest site's commits(Alabama) all getting a bump.

The kid I see is a legit 4* player with a nice arm, solid mechanics albeit a long release, and good athleticism. He'll be very good but he's inconsistent and just needs major reps throwing the ball. I would take him in a heartbeat and should be right in the thick of things to replace Braxton when he leaves but he needs a few years for sure before he's ready.

Think Lovell Peterson, Evan Lisle, and Shelton Gibson have to be in that group behind the top few. See Zaire a little behind them.

This looks to me like the best QB class I can remember coming out of Ohio with Marshall, Zaire, and Chapman. The athleticism of all three is amazing although marshall looks like he'll be switching positions at the next level. Marshall appears to be the best athlete and has the best open field speed. Zaire looks like a QB all the way and his second film looked really good and he also has the most arm strength of the 3. Chapman is the second best QB at this stage IMO he has better agility and quicker feet than Zaire. Chapman's video shows some throws that he lofts but I just think he's trying to make it more catchable for his receivers as he does prove he has arm strength on certain throws. IMO you have to take all 3 then sort it out later. Chapman and Marshall both look like they could play multiple positions. Chapman looks like Braxton 2.0.
