Major programs with most individual player awards

Really? Is this something you've maintained privately? I'd be interested to know the numbers for the top programs in All-Americans (1st team, 2nd team, total, etc.).

Figures. I'm currently working on All-Americans Dryden, but that is a tought and time involved project. And yes, it's something I maintain privately. I do have all other position awards and CFHOF entries for all D-1 schools. When I'm done (with AAs) I'll let you know. The problems is that there are so many different All American lists AP, UP(I), Walter Camp, SI, Billybobs Newspaper, etc., etc, etc. So what do you list? I'm attempting to find information on as many different ones as possible, but it will be a long process. It is time consuming because there are multiple winners and multiple teams for each year ... much more data input than a single Heisman winner for each year. It become even more intricate when to attempt to quantify Consensus All-Americans. That would be folks who won All-American status on a majority of All-American lists.

I think an easy place for you to start is at the NCAA web site. They have a listing of Consensus All-Americans up through 2000 (I believe) in PDF format. If you have problems finding it, let me know and I'll find the link for you. IIRC Yale leads the list in total All-Americans followed by Notre Dame, Michigan, Ohio State, etc.

EDIT: Here's the link:

3yards... That All-Americans list - is there a "modern era" version of it? Say from 1923-present (post-Red Grange)? That's when the country and the media really began paying attention to college football. That list definitely skewed toward college football's infancy.

Fascinating...
Interesting that tSUN has not received any Lineman award, e.g. Outland, given their reputation for developing talent on the O-Line. Also confirming the recent mediocrity of ND football, they have not received any award established in since 1990.

Aaron Taylor won the Lombardi in 1993, which was also the last time they won a bowl game.. That's right, the ABC guy that looks like Shrek.
