I'm not sure how someone gets a journalism degree anymore because it doesn't matter what you said.. .It matters that you make an emphatic statement that X or Y is or is not happening and everything after that will be perceived as fact.

They just obtained cult status with this one. I thought the cult was down in Waco, but apparently, it's in Austin as well.

As much as I hate to say it...and as much distain some folks up here have for you guys.....I have to admit....
This coaching search you guys are going through right now smells of something very similar to what happened here in Nebraska....

Bear with me as the sense of deja vu is rolling over me in waves right now.

So, in 2002, after a 7-7 season, Frank Solich fired his then defensive coordinator Craig Bohl (now the HC at Wyoming, 3 time Natty at NDSU I-AA) and replaced him with a guy named Mark "Bo" Pelini. A new AD was named that year after Bill Byrne took the job down at A&M.

That man was Steve Pederson.

After 9 wins that year, Solich was fired. The now infamous "I refuse to surrender the Big 12 to Oklahoma and Texas" speech was given:
"I refuse to let the program gravitate into mediocrity," Pederson said the day he announced Solich's firing. "We won't surrender the Big 12 to Oklahoma and Texas."

Despite firing a coach with a 9-3 record that season and a 58-19 career mark, Pederson said he was not running a "win at all costs" program.

He said he did not like the direction the program was taking after going 16-12 in Solich's last 28 games.

Bo didn't even get a sniff at the job right off the bat. We hired freaking Bill Callahan and the rest, they say, is history.

We haven't recovered still. Still floundering and flapping in the freaking wind.

You guys are steering down the same path that we've walked before. And it's a path that sets big time teams back a very, very long time.

Just to be clear... its not in Austin, maybe 10% of the population of Austin cares about Tejas, granted it could be all the lunatics, ... It comes from around Austin and the rest of Texas.

I am embarrassed of our self-absorbed $#@! coach that is dragging this program in the gutter.
I am embarrassed of our new AD who let this situation get this out of hand.
I am embarrassed of our President for not letting the AD handle this situation.
I am embarrassed of Wallace Hall and some BOR members for political bull$#@! we are dealing with.
I am embarrassed of Jamail and Red for the $#@! and indecent comments they have made publicly about our fanbase and our team players
I am embarrassed of the fact that our track coach was $#@!ing her student athlete.
I am embarrassed of Major $#@!ing a student trainer while his wife was pregnant.
I am embarrassed of Cleve sexually harassing female employees.
I am embarrassed of the DUIs and sexual scandals of our team players.
I am embarrassed of the $#@!ty graduation rates of our student athletes.
I am embarrassed of the LHN and $#@!ty taco bell ads.

I bleed burnt orange and this school means so much to me. I would do anything to help make this university better and wouldn't ask for a dime. This feeling is more disappointing than any loss. These men in charge have made me simply just not care anymore. It's about them, their image, and their bank accounts. Sorry for the rant. I just had to vent.

It appears that Mack was ready to step down, but wanted to do it his way on his timetable. It looks like some regents didn't have the patience for that, leaked it out, and that pissed off Mack. Now this thing could get ugly. Check that... uglier.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Tejas's two biggest boosters and Mack's buddies tossed McCoy and Ash under the bus. Red McCombs was quoted as referring to McCoy as a gimp. Ill try to find some links
