Give it a few weeks to change the way you compute and you will love it. It is different, for sure. But as a fellow iPhone and Mac user, you wont regret it.

Learn to love the Expose and Spaces features, they're great.

Yeah I just have no idea how to change anything...but I can learn.

Anyways does anyone know if you can take music from one iTunes library and move it to another? I am afraid to hook my old iPod up to this computer for fear it will delete all the songs. I already hooked my iPhone up, but it will not let me sync anything without erasing. Any way around this?

Also, is iWork good? We bought it today along with the computer. Should I take it back and get office for mac or just keep iWork?

I am having some isssues with my macbook pro. I keep getting a spinning rainbow wheel. It happened even as I am typing this message. I am not running a lot of programs, at least not to my knowledge. It seems to only occur while using Safari. Any help would be much appreciated. Please, it is SO annoying!

It's the equivalent of the spinning hour glass in windows. Force quit Safari and restart it and see if that fixes it. You could also look into Firefox or Camino for alternative web browsers. Firefox you may know from Windows, but Camino is made by Mozilla as well and is a pretty basic web browser but doesnt have as many bugs; at least in my experience.

Interesting discussions. I have migrated to a MacBook Pro for business reasons; run Vista via Boot Camp and Parallels. Biggest problem there is that Microsoft Office calculates this setup as constituting two separate computers running their software - bummer. Have the same problem with Adobe Acrobat. I really got this computer in order to run Acrobat more quickly; I send all my clients their deliverables as pdf files, and with a couple of key add-ins to Acrobat, the program becomes a real resource hog. The MacBook Pro is a stout piece of hardware with excellent graphics capabilities, though all this does not come cheap.

I'm still playing with the "Mac" side of the machine, trying to see if I want to load Office for Mac or iWork onto the machine full-time. Right now I'm just using the demo software to help decide. So far none of the native Mac software seems to have much to offer relative to their Vista counterparts - JMO.

This is more of a threat to the low-end of Wacom's lineup, but still a pretty huge add on. If I were mac, I'd gobble this up in a heartbeat.

My daughter just sent me her latest MacBook horror story. Third hard-drive failure in the past two years, and this time the drive-recovery people say they can't retrieve any of the data. Of course, she didn't back up her hard drive ... :shake:

Two recommendations if you own a Mac: get AppleCare, and back up your hard drive. Apple makes outstanding hardware except in the reliability department.

Ha...was looking through some of the threads I've created and found this one...glad to see it's still alive...somewhat.

A lot has changed since the original post a few years ago. I'm not a happy owner for the Imac I originally posted with, the macbook that I'm posting on now, and the Apple Iphone 4s I got up at 3am to preorder to make sure I got it the day it came out.

I do keep hearing more and more issues with hard drives on macs. That's the biggest thing I can say against them. Had two friends say they've had hard drive failures, but never had a problem with mine.

I know that can happen with all computers, so can't just be macs.

The biggest problem I've had with my mac is that on the way to Brazil last year the person in front of me leaned his chair back and crushed my monitor that I had open on the tray. I had the top left corner of my screen left and that was it.

I was planning on talking to my wife and parents on it while I was gone...so I had to drag all windows up to that corner.

I ended up buying a replacement monitor and fixed it myself. Hardest part was getting all the frikken screws out of this computer. I actually had to take a drill to some(maybe because I had practically stripped it).

All in all...happy with the purchase. I apologize for not keeping up on some of you as I started this. If you have questions about your purchase, please contact me.

I've had my dog chew through my power cord before...so I've had to buy two of those.

Is the "Export to Powerpoint" not working? You could try to find a converter tool (if they exist, I've not looked). There's a very good chance you'll have to redo a lot of your effects and even images, because quite a few styles and effects don't like the .ppt format and just can't happen in Powerpoint.

I do have iWork '08, to really answer your original question.

I don't have a mac, that was what the problem was. I found someone to do what I needed for me though.
