Luke Kennard (SG Detroit Pistons)

I do not know but for some strange reason I think we have a pretty good shot at getting him.

Well, Matta has almost never lost a highly rated in-state recruit that he went hard after since he has been at OSU. Most of the highest rated guys he hasn't gotten were rated lower than a guy OSU got at the same position in the same class. The only real exceptions were OJ Mayo (shady as hell) and Bill Walker (odd mid-year enrollment, and what's more Walker peed into a towel while on the bench during a game at K-State).

I liked seeing how Kennard seemed to light up when talking about OSU in the video. I like OSU's chances, too. Hope we're right!

Payne would be another example but yeah, there's not many.

But Matta got Sullinger and Thomas in that class, both were rated higher than Payne and played his position(s). So by my analysis, Payne is not an in-state miss so much as a guy that was deterred by OSU getting better players at his position in his class.

I remember hearing that Payne was tired of being in Sullinger's shadow also. They were on the same AAU team with Craft, Sibert, Staten, and others.

Interesting announcement to monitor as it pertains to Kennard, 6'6" 2015 top-25 SG recruit Charles Matthews reported that he will commit tomorrow, has KY in his short list of 5 finalists, and most seem to think he will pick the Wildcats.
