Kayshon Boutte arrested, charged for illegal sports gambling: Ex-LSU WR alleged to have wagered on Tigers

Former LSU standout wide receiver Kayshon Boutte has been charged in an illegal sports gambling scheme, per 9News. Some of the alleged incidences occurred when Boutte was a member of the Tigers football team prior to being drafted by the Patriots in 2023. According to the initial report, Boutte never bet “against himself” for LSU football games. According to NOLA.com, "Louisiana State Police said Boutte has been accused of placing bets on at least 17 college football games, and at least six of them were LSU games while he was on the team in 2022."

Boutte reportedly turned himself in to authorities on felony charges of computer fraud and a misdemeanor count of gaming prohibited for persons under 21. LSU released the following statement Thursday on the Boutte situation:

"In July 2023, LSU was made aware of allegations regarding a former student-athlete’s improper conduct related to sports gambling while enrolled at the University. Since then, we have fully cooperated with all relevant authorities involved in the investigation and will continue to do so. We have no evidence that any other student-athletes participated in these prohibited activities, and we are grateful for measures that detect and discourage sports gambling related misconduct."

Boutte allegedly created a fake account using an incorrect birthday to gain access to gaming sites since he wasn't yet 21-years old. The report indicates, through sources, that Boutte had wagers and payouts that exceeded “several hundred thousand dollars" during the season in 2022

LSU RB Trey Holly facing charge of attempted 2nd-degree murder

LSU freshman tailback Trey Holly turned himself in to the Union Parish Sheriff's Office on Thursday and faces a charge of attempted second-degree murder. That's one of three felony charges he's facing tied to a shooting last week in Farmerville, Louisiana.

Sheriff Dusty Gates of the Union Parish Sheriff's Office in Farmerville told ESPN in a phone interview Thursday that Holly turned himself in around noon and is being held on $512,000 bond. Holly's arrest Thursday is one of three arrests tied to a Feb. 9 shooting, per Gates, in which two people were shot. Gates told ESPN that both of the shooting victims are expected to live.

Holly is also facing charges of aggravated criminal damage to property and illegal use of a weapon, Gates told ESPN.

Holly has been suspended indefinitely from all LSU football team activities. LSU said in a statement that it was "aware that a student-athlete has been arrested in relation to a shooting in Union Parish."
