Gump is some made up Hollywood shit.

REAL shrimp boat captains are Ed O level retarded.

Yeah, here are a couple examples; and they don't need Hollywood photos. They have mug shots courtesy of the parish sheriff:

Police: Shrimp boat captain arrested for damage after another shrimper was ‘in his spot’

St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a Slidell-area man Wednesday (Sept. 18) after an altercation between two shrimp boat captains.

Shortly after 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, STPSO Marine units were dispatched to the area of Rigolets Pass near Geoghegan Canal in reference to an altercation between the occupants of two shrimp boats.

The captain of one of the boats, Casey Russell, of Slidell, had become angry after locating another individual shrimping “in his spot.”

Russell had deployed his boat’s anchor and circled the victim’s boat, causing the anchor to hook the boat’s nets and lines. Russell then dragged the boat, causing it to sustain significant damage and take on water.

A shrimper crashed his boat. Police said they found him with drugs and ready to fight

A shrimp boat captain was arrested off Stock Island after police said he tried to fight Coast Guard officers who boarded his vessel after he ran aground and smashed into a channel marker sign.

Ron Ray Anderson, 39, of Merritt Island, ignored officers’ commands and charged at them with a fist, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s arrest report.

The officers said they had to spray him with Mace to take him into custody.

allow me to rephrase.

We fired a guy for not being elite.
we're paying this current guy double what the fired guy made.

this guy's results are worse than anything we've had since the dark ages.

... cuz the fired guy didn't win a National Championship.

you're right, we're not elite.

I never commented on whether LSU is "elite" or not.

What is "elite", anyway? You could say any team that's made playoffs is elite. Or the teams that have won in CFP era are elite? But LSU has done both of those.
So what's the metric you're using? Multiple championships in CFP era? Only Bama and Clemson have that... and the latter largely because they play in the softest conference.

because we settled for a shrimp boat captain instead of a coach.
sorry, not just settled. outbid ourselves for him.

... which school doesn't renew a contract after they win a championship ?
It's not that you outbid yourselves, it's that you're paying for the championship.
This is more commonly seen in NFL imo - where, say, the Eagles or Seahawks win the Super Bowl. Everyone gets their payday. The bad elements are overlooked and the team regresses fast.
Even NBA... Cavs win, and a lot of bums that rode 23's coattails got paid. The real costar gets disillusioned and wants out from 23's shadow. The team becomes a toxic wasteland of washed up and overrated talent.
Patriots and Bama are rare exceptions.

I get it. Orgeron is Tyrron Lue. He didn't have a lot to do with that NC, but is getting rewarded for it for the next 3 years regardless.
That's the price of winning sometimes.
Enjoy the NC.
And realize every colossal fkup is closer he gets to being dismissed. It's a little closer some filthy rich donor is to handing 20 mil over to be rid of him... it's not like they're spending your money.

And y'all just lost your only open date Saturday. Which begs to ask, why wasn't the SEC smart enough to foresee possible cancellations in November and schedule the open dates for the last week so one game could easily be made up without any conflict? Is the SEC commissioner the banjo kid from the movie Deliverance?
