That sounds about right after winning an NC.
It's a fresh contract at this point - the buyout doesn't look that bad assuming it goes down yearly?
Even elite programs with perennial expectations update contracts for an NC and effectively resets the timeline.
You had to know when they won that he'd be there another 3 years, regardless of results.

Every time Orgeron fucks up, it takes a couple months off the 3 year timeline to get rid of him.

allow me to rephrase.

We fired a guy for not being elite.
we're paying this current guy double what the fired guy made.

this guy's results are worse than anything we've had since the dark ages.

you're right, we're not elite.
because we settled for a shrimp boat captain instead of a coach.
