LSU Tigers (official thread)

Tyron Johnson transferring... 4th WR to leave in the last 8 months.
Seeking a more "wide open offense". Texas A&M or Texas Tech seem like ideal locations, IMO. Assuming they have the space. KU came up as a possible destination in one article, but I just don't see it. That would be a "wide open" option while still being absolutely terrible.

Idk why anyone would want to join the dumpster fire in College Station... At least he knows he's going to a terrible program in KU, but they'll get him the ball any way possible as would Texas Tech. ATM is a sinking ship

Might be a sinking ship, but they've never had issues with ball distribution to their WRs. And they've put some pretty solid WRs into the NFL the last few years. Texas Tech would probably be his best option. They throw the ball 40-50 times a game. Seems like he would love an offense like that.

True, but if good enough he can make the NFL from either school. But Texas Tech would probably be a WR (and QB) dream. But I would wonder which coach would be there for the rest of your college days? I think Kingsbury will last longer than Sumlin, IMO

Oh absolutely. And you would be 100% correct in saying they are an absolute dumpster fire. I think Kingsbury is currently at his dream job, so he likely wouldn't want to move up the coaching chain, unless he's given an elite top 15 program opportunity, which I don't even see happening. I think I read somewhere that TTU was even a finalist for his signature when he was being recruited. Okie State, LSU, and TTU was the final three if I read that correctly.

LSU Tigers mascot Mike VI has cancer, won't take field this season

Diagnosed with cancer, LSU's live tiger mascot, Mike VI, won't take the field during home football games this season but will remain in his habitat instead.

The university, in a news release Tuesday, said that in light of Mike's recent terminal cancer diagnosis, no attempt will be made to load him into his trailer. Instead, officials say he'll be let out into his outdoor habitat early on game day so Tigers fans can see and visit with him throughout the day.

"LSU understands that the tradition of having Mike on the field on game day is important; however, Mike's health, safety and well-being are always our top priority," the statement said.

Arkansas mascot sends flowers, card to LSU's Mike VI

There's a fraternity of college football mascots and it came to the relief of LSU's Mike VI, the live tiger mascot stricken with terminal cancer.

I'm a long time TD lurker. It was somewhat comical watching the melts on Saturday/Sunday but I've seen quite a few "out there" threads:

1) Go Fund me accounts (there are 2) for Miles buy-out.
2) Starting a petition to the POTUS for him to intervene.
3) The posting of the University President and AD phone numbers.
4) Suggestions of a ticket burning party and boycott of all advertisers products.
5) Request that the players quit on the coach/team.
6) suggestions that the fans boycott games.

These are just off the top of my head. There were a few others in a similar vein.

They are convinced that they are going to get either Jimbo or Herman. There are a couple of posters that try to point out what happened to Michigan and Tennessee but they are quickly shouted down, cursed, personally attacked, and derided.

No offense to some of our guest from south of the Mason-Dixon Line but southerners are quickly ruining college football for me.

nah. you can't let them bug you.

a lot of those posters weren't even born yet when Saban was hired by LSU.

so they can't fathom that there was ever a time that we weren't on top of the SEC and contending for national titles.

they feel entitled to it and automatically assume whatever coach they want is going to come over for a bargain price just because it's LSU.

I defended Miles longer than most. When I was longer really defending him, I would point out that removing a coach with his track record is rarely a good idea.

the fans see every single flaw in Miles and think it's justified to form a lynch mob and run him out of town.

potential replacements see
"LSU runs off coach with highest wining % in school history for only winning 9 games"
or
"LSU fires miles because fans disagree with play call late in Wiscy game"
or
"LSU fans chase Miles away because he's not Saban"

or in the case of last year:
"LSU administration leaves Miles dangling in the wind while secretly negotiating with boosters and Jimbo until the corrupt and morally and financially bakrupt state government get involved in football hirings/firings"

why the hell would an already top level guy jump at that?

Lynch mob! That's a great analogy.

As someone who has no dog in the fight, I agree that it's time for Les to step aside. But LSU has to do it right. The fiasco at the end of last year needs to be avoided at all costs. It's probably too late to avoid that though.

Look at Georgie last year. Hardly any talk until the deal was done so the media didn't get the chance to crucify the administration for weeks like they did LSU.

Tom Herman is a step below top level guy. That would be a great get. But you're correct in saying you're not going to get a Jimbo Fisher making a lateral move.

I think Herman would be a perfect fit. Outside of LA, LSU recruits TX the hardest and he has so many inroads. That, and LSU has all the talent in the world. They just need a coach who's able to develop a QB. He's pretty good in that area.
