LSU Tigers (official thread)

The OL is elite in pass blocking but not run blocking. What hurts the run game the most is not having a threat of a run from the QB.

Before Aggies made the switch to running QB, they could not run. Then the other QB comes in and their run game unstoppable.

Too many times LSU has a read option handoff and Nuss waits too long to hand off. Also Williams does not see holes opening up. A few times last night the holes were there but he went to where run was designed.

1. Offense - The playcalling is horrid.

How many times did you watch this:
1st down-incomplete deep ball
2nd down-run into the middle of the line for no gain
3rd down- let’s see if we can pull something out of our ass.

You have to be more balanced. You have to try establish the run. You can’t tell me this offensive line that is loaded with supposedly first day NFL draft picks can’t run block. You have to change the scheme or something. If you throw it 50 times a game, an inaccurate QB like Nuss, who still throws off his back foot, is going to run into a couple interceptions. It’s the law of averages.

2. Defense- I give Baker a lot of credit. This defense looks light years better than last year. But the second half was alarming. I get the first drive..you didn’t expect that QB, etc. But by the second drive, third drive, fourth drive, you are telling me he can’t make an adjustment? Scary with Milroe coming to town.

3. Special Teams- Fire everyone associated with it. Kelly should be ashamed to put that on the field. And the punter should be on the bench. No telling how many yards he costs LSU.

Cignetti me!
at first i gave you the benefit of doubt and figured you was joking about him.
but now that i see you are apparently serious, you’re even dumber than i originally thought you were.
Yes but many of our fans still blame him for everything

no, just the O lovers can’t accept just how bad of shape this program was in when he left.
the roster was so depleted and still had signing and scholarship limits (thanks to O era probation) when Kelly was hired so it was going to take a minimum of 2 recruiting cycles just to get back to a full roster.
then because of early signing periods, his first class was signed only 14 days after his hire, so it’s really tough to count that as being “his” first class.
even with the portal, if the players/positions you need aren’t available, you can’t get them.

this was the first bad game special teams has had all year.
it was an atrocious game, no sugarcoating that.
but up until last night, Special teams has been an asset all season.

Peyton Todd is not a great punter, but he’s been more than serviceable prior to last night.

Damian Ramos has been one of the more consistent kickers we’ve had in years.
5/8 from 45+ is not bad for a college kicker.

on the 3 FGs last night, quit listening to Herbie and use your own eyes. neither of the 2 misses were bad holds. you could clearly see that the laces were NOT to the back even though he tried saying they were. the part of the ball facing the kicker has to be smooth. and it was for both kicks. The laces do not have to be centered on the front side of the ball. Just away from the kick.

the botched snap was the first one in a few years, so let’s not act like it’s a recurring issue.
