LSU Tigers (official thread)

I'm still shocked by this hire. I, personally, think LSU is a top 10 job in CFB. Maybe not on par with tOSU, Bammer, scUM, ND as far as history/prestige...but just a tier below that. I would think they could certainly fit in with the UF, FSU, Texas's.

we should be. we have every built in advantage there is to be right there in that mix.
and in some ways, even better advantages than some of those schools.

but incompetence, corruption, and the good ole boy network prevents us from ever getting to that level.

this hire on the surface makes me sick.
then you look into to find out we just got played by a con man makes it even worse.

i don't know if anyone here actually cares, but tonight i may post some of what (allegedly) happened behind the scenes.

this possibly goes deeper and back farther than I thought it did.
our imbecile AD and large chunk of fanbase fell for it all.

Whatever Herman or his agent did, and I have little doubt that it was exclusively in the perceived best interest of Tom Herman only, there really is no excuse for ever thinking that Herman would come to LSU if Texas opened up. Not a knock on LSU, but just the known fact that Herman's a Texas guy. That said, it seems entirely possible to me that Herman would have taken the LSU job had Strong not flamed out so badly and gotten canned. It's also possible, of course, that the UT powers that be had told Herman that Strong was gone six weeks ago and that Herman and his agent simply played LSU. I'm interested in whatever insider scoop you have.

Regardless, as you have pointed out, even if Herman plays you, you still do a freaking full-blown national search and don't just make the lazy choice.

There wasn't a shower and children involved right?

not that i'm aware of.

Tom Herman is not the con man i was referring to.
he played the game exactly the way anyone else in his position would have done.

Turns out LSU AD Joe Alleva had been in talks with Fisher's camp after all and walked away when he realized it'd cost well north of $50mm guaranteed to pry Jimbo away from FSU. The media floating the Jimbo-to-LSU rumor even though official talks were already dead gave LSU leverage to try and pressure Herman to decide quickly before Texas could get involved. Once Texas knew the race was on and got involved, LSU balked.

We've been here before. LSU expects Nick Saban results without spending the money required to get (literally) a Nick Saban-quality coach, or a reasonable projection of such.

allegedly, there was preliminary talks early in the process. Alleva got an idea of roughly what it would cost and never pursued it.

because as we all know sounding a drunk cajun cookie monster is way more important in coaching than actually being a successful coach somewhere.

you act like we was given a choice on the shit used for the sand which.

we were given 4 day old cow shit, the kind that's dried and crusty on the outside, but still mushy and green on the inside.
they slapped it on stale french bread with no condiments, then thrown at us by the greased up deaf guy we had for a waiter.
