LSU Tigers (official thread)

perspective i guess.

i knew about it. and it was definitely reported here.
i haven’t heard (or looked for) anything about y’all tattoos in years. And i’ve literally never heard the “play school” comment.

oh i wasn’t doubting someone said it.

just saying it wasn’t widely reported enough for a non-OSU guy to even know about it.

y’all know because you follow every word about your team (like i do with LSU).
and like most fans you definitely remember the negatives front and center.

Because that matters. Let me try again.

We had a good student jokingly say he didn't go to Ohio State to play school, and I still have to hear about it means Ohio State players are dumb jocks 8 years later.....but this is the first I'm hearing of a starting RB for a National Championship team killing a person?
Hey, maybe the dead guy just needed killing. If it was self defense no harm no foul. Self defense is always an affirmative defense. Prolly doesn't reach the level of free tats though.

I'm not mad at you. I want that said clearly up front.

But your bold is only true anecdotally. You're making it seem like only Ohio State fans know about this......and that's pretty far from the truth. It's quite the meme in the CFB world. I know it's apples to oranges, because we're talking about something minor like homicide vs something major like saying you don't like going to class.

Pretend for a second that Ohio State had played LSU last year for the title like we should have. I'm willing to bet tattoos and playing school would be all over LSU boards.

This is all to say, even if CEH wasn't the one who pulled the trigger.....and even if it was completely self defense.....and even if they really were selling an electronic device that nobody can remember what it was and nobody cares enough to find out........somebody like me who has his life so wrapped up in college football that it's probably unhealthy should still know about it.

ok, so i guess when i said non OSU fan i should have been broader and say something more regional.

i’m sure your geographic rival do bombard y’all with shit. just like y’all do to them, we do to Ole Miss, etc.
That’s part of fandom. I follow the sport pretty religiously too. But had i even heard of it it was like a blip that was so insignificant that i didn’t log it into memory.

the CEH thing was a big story here when it happened.
But as i said earlier in this thread, killing someone, unfortunately is not an uncommon story in Baton Rouge these days.
and even worse, we have become almost desensitized to it. It’s almost a footnote to the news “welp someone else was shot and killed last night, now here’s Bob with the fish and game report....Bob”

I live in KC and it was all over our sports news here. My HS students still joke with me about it when they see all my OSU gear I sport everyday at work, even the ones who were hardly old enough to remember it, way back when they were in middle school when it happened. Must have been big news. Or should I say ESPN made it big news?

I think this is the point that Nootch and 27 are dancing around. When the mothership can hit at Ohio State, they always do... When it's one of their business partners from the SEC... bury the lede. I do remember hearing something about this back when it happened, but it surely wasn't all over the news like when the mothership has a chance to slap OSU around about anything, even something ridiculously minor.

i see the issue here.
i only watch live sporting events on ESPN, so guess that’s why i was not bombarded by it.

I'm the same way (now) too. I seldom watch anything on ESPN besides a live event bc of the blatant biased narratives. It's unwatchable at this point. They don't even try to hide the pro SEC/ACC agenda they try to push on their audience anymore. Take the OSU game broadcast on Saturday for example. They spent more time talking about A&M and UF than they did the actual game..... and that isn't an exaggeration.

It is my opinion that you have a duty to report the good and the bad of the conference you cover. In an age where media outlets jump at the chance to bury someone's image, ESPN goes out of their way to protect their cash cow and bury everyone elses. There lies the issue with me and how sports are covered in our country, especially by the world wide leader.

Everyone is out on playing for Coach O this year

LSU tight end Arik Gilbert is considering leaving LSU and missed Monday's practice, sources told Geaux247. Head coach Ed Orgeron and his staff are fighting to keep the talented five-star prospect from the 2020 class, but Gilbert is homesick and is likely returning home to the state of Georgia for the remainder of the semester, sources said.
