LSU Tigers (official thread)

BREAKING....

In other news, @Jaxbuck will not be dating Jessica Alba this year.

this is unacceptably embarrassing.

i’ve never been a fan of his, but at this point i now have an irrational hate for Ed Orgeron.

like real actual hate.
not a strong dislike.
not a “hope he gets fired”
a true HATE.

this guy is (unsurprisingly) a complete Port-o-let fire train wreck.

LSU football self-imposes one-year bowl ban for 2020 season

In a statement released on Wednesday night, the school said the additional action taken represents their "commitment to compliance with NCAA regulations and maintenance of institutional control."

"I respect the university's decision to proactively address NCAA issues from the past," coach Ed Orgeron said in a a statement. "I share the disappointment of our student-athletes who will not be able to compete this season in a bowl game. I am especially proud of our players' dedication to the program during these unprecedented times in our country. Their pride in LSU will be the driving force as we continue to build a championship program. Geaux Tigers."

The most serious allegation related to LSU's football program involves booster John Paul Funes, a former CEO of a hospital foundation whom the enforcement staff accused of "providing funds to the families of current and former student-athletes, arranging for members of the institution's football staff to use a private plane and offering internships to football student-athletes."

The NCAA enforcement staff confirmed that Funes "arranged employment beginning in 2012 for the parents of a then football student-athlete and paid the father $180,000 during 2012-17 for a no-show job."

The father, who was identified as "Individual C" in a federal indictment, is the father of former LSU offensive lineman Vadal Alexander, sources previously told ESPN.

Alexander was a four-year starter for the Tigers from 2012 to 2015. His father, James Alexander, is a self-employed entrepreneur in Atlanta.

In October, Funes pleaded guilty to embezzling more than $500,000 from the hospital foundation and giving some of the money to the parents of two former LSU players. He was sentenced to 33 months in federal prison.

Just sayin': Luckily for LSU/Orgeron this only involved embezzling, booter payments to players and their families, fake or no show jobs, and improper use of private planes, etc.; they should be damn glad nothing real serious like free tattoos were involved......

A self bowl ban at 3-5 what a fucking joke

LSU officials feared the NCAA would enforce their own bowl ban. So they roll this joke out.

If the NCAA had ANY integrity they would hammer down on them next year too.

That of course wont happen though.

They will likely go 4-6 (losing to Florida and beating Ole Miss) this year. It might cost them an invitation to the very prestigious and highly desirable

RADIANCE TECHNOLOGIES INDEPENDENCE BOWL

Where: Independence Stadium; Shreveport, Louisiana
Tie-in: Independent vs. Pac-12
Kickoff: 7 p.m. ET
This is the first year that a Pac-12 team has had a tie-in in Shreveport. The 2019 game saw Louisiana Tech post a 14-0 win over Miami, marking the first time that the Hurricanes had been shutout in a bowl game in 25 years and the first time ever that a team had been blanked in the Independence Bowl.

A local team (i.e. one in Louisiana) might any create more interest and/or sell a few more tickets (if they have fans in attendance).

Fortunately the opposite is true in the SEC for NCAA violations, any NCAA violations in the SEC JUST MEANS LESS (penalties).

Good calculated move that Gene didn’t make in 2011. Probably gets the job done with the feckless pricks in Indy TBH and spares the team from playing in a turd bowl.
This right motherfucking here.

I still get pissy thinking how badly Gene fucked up the 2011-2012 situation.

Good for LSU if they get away with it. Don’t hate the player....
