Along the lines of what Milli said, we have had some questionable things going on this season. Look up OSU vs Washington on youtube and someone has posted a few blocks in the back and one blatantly bad facemask on Locker. The big difference IMO is that our issues are not systemic, LSU's are.

I'm not in any way shape or form trying to say that our defense plays dirty, I'm just saying that many non-OSU fans after seeing some of this may.
Yes, OSU has done a few questionable things this year but so has 118 other teams in 1-A football... this happens on occasion to everyone. Heck, USC had at least 4 personal fouls against Washington last week and I don't think they are a "dirty" defense (but I don't have a good point of reference as that is the only time I've seen them play this year). Occasional personal fouls are going to happen when teams play hard. Where it really starts to come into question is when the same fouls are committed over and over, week after week.

In re penalties -

Currently tOSU ranks 76th for fewest penalties given up
After 5 games they have yielded 35 penalties (average 7 per game) for an average of 49 yards per game. (245 yards total)

LSU after 5 games has yielded 9 flags per game - 310 yards, 62 yards per game. "Good" for 105th in the nation.

Southern California has only 4 games under their belt, but they sure know how to run with the big dogs on penalty yardage :)

113th in the nation - 37 penalties thus far - 349 yards and 87.25 yards per game.

Now, we all realize that the cause of theose penalties may be procedural, holding, or Pass Interference, Celebration - or those Personal Fouls that are the core subject of this LSU Football 101 video highlight.
Perhaps a scan through the Play-By-Play for LSU and USC would be instructive?

Check out this thread I just created for OSU penalties.

Report: Tharold Simon arrested night before Tharold Simon Day

April 26, 2013 12:51 pm ET

Tharold Simon was charged with public intimidation the night before his own day in Eunice, La.

There's never a convenient time to get arrested. For former LSU cornerback and current NFL Draft prospect Tharold Simon, though, Thursday night might prove to be particularly awkward.

Per Lafayette, La., TV station KATC, Simon was arrested in his hometown of Eunice, La. and charged with public intimidation, resisting an officer and unnecessary noise violation. Simon was released on bond.

According to police records, Simon angrily responded to a police request that he move his car to prevent it blocking a Eunice street, allegedly "back[ing] the vehicle [up] in an aggressive manner," telling the officer "I own Eunice" and that the officer he would be fired if he wrote Simon a ticket.

Though the charges do not appear to be serious, the arrest will no doubt be embarassing to Simon given that he's expected to be drafted sometime during Friday's NFL Draft middle rounds or Saturday's later ones -- CBSSports.com projects him as a Round 4 or 5 selection -- and even more so with the city of Eunice scheduled to celebrate "Tharold Simon Day" on Friday. Mayor Rusty Moody told KATC that a planned ceremony in Simon's honor would go ahead despite the arrest.

The report said Simon spun his wheels, "backed up in an aggressive manner" and "turned his radio all the way up." When he was arrested, he reportedly told the officer that "the mayor was on my side" and that the officer would be fired for giving him a ticket.

Simon's agent Peter Schaffer immediately set out to do damage control, and reportedly told Pro Football Talk that he has "20 witnesses" who say that Simon did nothing wrong.

"I have spent the better part of the morning investigating this matter, including getting statements from over 20 witnesses," Schaffer said. "The witnesses corroborate that Tharold did nothing wrong, certainly nothing illegal, and he acted with dignity and class throughout the entire ordeal. I am 100 percent certain that no charges will be filed. We are looking into pursuing a lawsuit against the office for violation of Tharold's civil rights."

In talking with PFT, Schaffer added, "I am appalled by the behavior of the Eunice, Louisiana police department."

i don't know what did or didn't happen, so not gonna even try to guess.

but i've been to Eunice before.
i'm pretty sure that a semi-famous person spinning their tires is probably the most exciting thing to happen in Eunice in the last 50 years or so.
