LSU at ARKANSAS (Friday)

This game deserves just as much attention as the SC/ND game. If the hogs knock off the Tigers, you would have an one loss team coming out of the SEC. And if that were the case, Michigan can kiss rematch goodbye.
Arkansas never really had much of a chance anyway going to the NC. They have the votes, but it all comes down to the ND/USC game and what happens with Florida. If USC wins, they'll probably get the votes to jump Michigan. If ND wins, they're not gonna put Arkansas in front of ND after Arkansas got pounded by the same team. If Florida wins out, they'd probably go before ND. Then again, ND's only loss this season was to a #2 Michigan team. In any event, the Arkansas argument doesn't matter at this hour since they lost. Either way, they probably wouldn't have played the Buckeyes.

I wondered about Arkansas. Even though McFadden is a premier back in the NCAA, I was curious about their air attack...or lack thereof. Regardless, I didn't want Arkansas in the NC game because it wouldn't be all that exciting to me like a USC or Florida might. Either way, I think we roll the Gators if they make it and beat the Trojans by a TD or two. If we play the Domers, I hope JT tries his hardest to put up 70 or so. I HATE ND. Realistically, I think we could easily top the performance against them last year. They've gotten a little better (IMO) while we've gotten scary better.

Even though every season we hear a lot of moaning from SEC coaches about the BCS, this year has been particularly bad. You think the coaching fraternity down in that part of the country would let Michigan jump an one loss Arkansas, the champions of the SEC?

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. ? JaMarcus Russell and LSU cleared another contender from the national title picture and just might have added one more big game to their already brutal road schedule ? this time in the Bowl Championship Series.
The Tigers will gladly accept a trip like that, and after taking out No. 5 Arkansas, they believe they have a pretty good resume.
Russell threw for 210 yards and two touchdowns, and No. 9 LSU held off the Southeastern Conference West champion Razorbacks 31-26 yesterday.
"I think we?ve made a case for the BCS certainly, and we?ve made a case that maybe we?re one of the best teams in this conference," Tigers coach Les Miles said. "If you were picking the best team, we?d have something to talk about it."
Arkansas was sixth in the BCS standings this week, but the Razorbacks held out hope that wins over the Tigers (10-2, 6-2) and next week against Florida in the SEC title game would help them jump the other contenders and into the championship game against Ohio State.
Instead, LSU improved its chances of landing a bid to the BCS. After the game, the Tigers? cheering section began chanting "BCS" ? LSU is hoping to receive an at-large spot after entering the game 10 th in the standings. Arkansas? chances of an at-large bid took a hit, but the Razorbacks already had clinched the West ? they can go to the Sugar Bowl if they win next week.
LSU played four road games this year ? all were against teams ranked in the top 10 at the time. The Tigers lost at Auburn and Florida before winning at Tennessee and Arkansas.
"We have the distinct impression that we may be the best team in the West," Miles said. "The West Division champion is the Arkansas team. I?m not certain who the best is."
Arkansas closed to 31-26 on a 5-yard touchdown run by Felix Jones, who rushed for 137 yards, with 4:53 remaining. The Razorbacks (10-2, 7-1) got the ball back at their own 27 with 2:04 to play. But Casey Dick threw four straight incompletions, completing a miserable 3-of-17 day in which he passed for only 29 yards.
Heisman Trophy candidate Darren McFadden rushed for 182 yards for Arkansas, including an 80-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. But Trindon Holliday returned the ensuing kickoff 92 yards for a touchdown to make it 31-19 with 10:14 remaining.
"(Linebacker) Sam Olajubutu came to me and said, ?Three plays, have your offense ready,? " Arkansas coach Houston Nutt said. "Then they hit that kickoff return."
Holliday?s touchdown completed a wild stretch of three touchdowns in 45 seconds ? Russell had thrown a 7-yard pass to Early Doucet immediately before McFadden?s run. Dick was 0 of 8 in the second half. He was intercepted early in the fourth quarter by LaRon Landry, who returned it 23 yards to the Arkansas 9, setting up Doucet?s touchdown.

Wel, even if Arkansas had won last night, I still imagine Michigan would get the nod in front of a 1 loss Arkansas. The difference in the two teams is that Arkansas loss was a huge debackle against USC, while Michigan's loss was much closer in a game against the #1 team in the nation :) If ND would win or play a close game against USC, I'm not sure how their poor game against Michigan would stack up against Arkansas big loss against the same USC team. As far as the coach's votes in that part of the country (SEC), I would hope they wouldn't put a 1 loss Arkansas in front of a 1 loss Michigan team...but I can imagine there'd be some biased tendencies there.

It is pretty pathetic when a team's best offensive formation is one with the quarterback on the sidelines (i.e. McFadden taking the snap).

They could also use a place kicker.

Don't forgot the one where the guy hunches down behind the OL and takes a hand off

They've had some other gimmicky formations this year as well, I can't imagine they would really surprise a good, smart defense
