Or if they weren't part of the ESPN gravy train.BB73;1957938; said:Only if they knew, or clearly should have known, of the violation.

Personally, I don't think the Willie Lyles thing is going to mean much for LSU. From what I can tell, what they acquired wasn't vastly overpriced or worthless (as in Oregon's case). Any package of high school players is bound to have some guys that have already committed to other schools, unless it's specifically made for a small set of players. Tailoring it like that would mean extra time and expense - it's easier just to send a group package out for a period of a few months, and let the schools look at the guys they're interested in.

http://www.si.com/college-football/...vernor-budget-crisis-cancel-lsu-tigers-seasonLouisiana governor John Bel Edwards said Thursday in a televised speech that if the state does not address its budget crisis, college sports—namely LSU football—could be canceled beginning in April, according to The Times-Picayune.
Edwards has proposed a series of tax increases that he says Louisiana lawmakers must accept in order to prevent state-funded healthcare and higher education institutions from running out of money on April 30.
“Student athletes across the state would be ineligible to play next semester,” Edwards said. “I don’t say this to scare you. But I am going to be honest with you.
“If you are a student attending one of these universities, it means that you will receive a grade of incomplete, many students will not be able to graduate, and student-athletes across the state at those schools will be ineligible to play next semester. That means you can say farewell to college football next fall.”
If Edwards’s tax proposal to fix Louisiana’s $940 million deficit is accepted, it would save only the Tigers’ 2016 season, as the state faces a $2 billion budget shortfall for the following fiscal year
LSU football doesnt turn a profit?
Read this today as well. Does anyone else think that LSU not fielding a football team would ever REALLY happen? I understand the reasoning that is behind it...that the school would have to shut down, creating grades of incomplete for the athletes and thus causing them to be ineligible. Plus, with no school, there is no team. However, this will never happen. Does the governor really think he will scare people in to approving a gigantic tax hike based on peoples fears of this?
