Adios
Only reason I'm bringing this up is because of a quote made by the coach of Loyola after the game. Stephen Curry was held scoreless on three shots. Loyola double-teamed him for the entire game, and Curry obviously stopped taking shots after he figured this out early in the game. But that didn't stop Loyola from doubling him. And they got dominated. But they still doubled him.

The quote is a terrible message IMO. Kind of just want to see what people think..

ESPN - Loyola (MD) vs. Davidson - Recap - November 25, 2008

Curry decided to keep standing there, and his teammates kept scoring -- for 40 minutes -- in a 78-48 head-scratching win for the Wildcats (No. 25 on ESPN/USA Today, No. 24 AP) that will be remembered for some time.

The nation's leading scorer was held without a point and took only three shots. But the game was never in doubt because Davidson played the entire game on a virtual power play.

All this was courtesy of a bizarre coaching move by Loyola's Jimmy Patsos.

"We had to play against an NBA player tonight," Patsos explained. "Anybody else ever hold him scoreless? I'm a history major. They're going to remember that we held him scoreless or we lost by 30?"

Jimmy Patsos is absolutely crazy. He's racked up a ton of technicals is probably one of the biggest coaches in basketball in terms of sideline emotions and antics.

Loyola coach Jimmy Patsos sat at the end of the bench after getting a technical midway into the first half, letting his assistants run the team and rarely joining huddles. At one point in the second half, he sat in the stands for about a minute of play.

I think that's probably the only way you can hold Curry scoreless. His coach should have told him to stay down on the offensive end of the court when Loyola had the ball. That would have been interesting:biggrin:

No one will remember this game or Jimmy Patsos. What an idiot.

I can't imagine being a college coach and basically forfeitting a game in the name of holding an opposing player scoreless so you can go down in history. It's one thing to force another player to beat you, but once you're down 15-20 it's probably time to switch strategy.

Embarrassing.
