Lowe's or Home Depot?

Home Depot is garbage. I got stuck with a bunch of Home Depot gift cards for X-mas, and it sucked having to go to that trash heap to redeem them.

:slappy: WTF?? I would guess this poll is based soley on location for most people. Do you really think there is a difference between the 2.

Why do you say that?

I actually have two Home Depots and two Lowes that are very close to my home. Both Home Depots are trashy as hell. When I was redeeming my gift cards I had to go to customer service on 3 occasions b/c there were no prices listed on the items I needed. The service at both Home Depots is pretty horrible as well. The Home Depot by my parents' place in Day-town and my brother's home in C-bus are pretty awful as well. While I'm confident there are crappy Lowes in the world, my experience with them has always been consistently good while Home Depot always seems to completely suck. Eh, just compare their websites. Lowes is much more user friendly in my opinion, while Home Depot is pretty average at best. I'd prefer to shop at Home Depot b/c their prices are usually better, but the stores and service just suck ass compared to Lowes.

Oh yeah, and there's an I-Hop and Chipotle by the Lowes in Milford, Oh, so that doesn't hurt either.

I have a Lowes, Home Depot and Wal Mart all next to each other. The Lowes is newer and much cleaner and nicer. The Home Depot is old and the employees have a shitty attitude. I only venture to WalMart if I cannot find what I want at the other two. That would be an 18MM socket.

I do not know. If you own tools you will find that many sockets sets do not have a 18MM socket. It is very close to 11/16" but 11/16" will not work on shocks or brakes. I had to have one and went to the above mentioned 3 stores and KMart and only found it at Wally World in a small set.

I go to Lowe's. I have done some consulting work for Lowe's in the home office in Mooresville, NC and I must say they (Lowe's people in general) are the most friendliest and nicest individuals I have every worked with. There concerns with any program or system that is to be implemented is 1) how is it going to affect our people, and 2) is the procedure or change going to make the shopping experience more pleasant (easier, less expensive, more efficient) for our customers. Given the choice I definitely favor Lowe's over HD.

I am torn,

I am a long time Home Depot stockholder.

I have also become a Lowes stockholder over the past 4 years,

Lowes is also a client of mine.

I split my time between the two.

I will agree that HD has better paint (Behr)

and Lowe's is a great company to do business with. I am very happy they finally moved out of East Bumblefuck (N. Wilkesboro) to Mooresville. Much easier to get to, and more stuff to do around it.

Lowe's, because I can see them from my house, and because there was a moron at the HD that told me that they wouldn't carry cordless drills at HD that were more than 18v because of the liability of someone torqueing thier wrist (BS). He then tryied to get me to buy this POS out of balance DeWalt... and the fact that I am a PC guy, and thier selection sucks. I do however like the HD for things like lawn fertilizer (they carry Ringers) and Lowes doesn't carry any organic alternative. I need to lay off the coffee.
