Loudest Stadiums (split from Claytor thread)

If you are judging based on your own experience a lot depends on where you sit.

I was in the upper deck at Happy Valley a couple of years back and it got as loud or louder than I have heard the Shoe from that same vantage - but certainly not by a lot (and piped in noise doesn't hurt). That is the only place I have been that comes close, but I have not been to all that many stadiums.

Listening on tv there are a lot of places that seem to maintain the intensity better than OSU, but those are generally smaller stadiums where the students are both better placed and take up a larger proportion of seats. Of course, tv can make a stadium seem as loud or as quiet as they please.

I went to an OU game last season where the intensity level of the fans was incredible late in a close game - but it was far too small to have a high ranking in overall volume. And of course the crowd was overwhelmingly students.

Gamble's interception vs. Penn State in '02, AJ's interception against Texas last year, and the moment when Ginn broke outside on the punt return for touchdown against Michigan in '04 are three loudest moments I've ever experienced in the Shoe.

Gamble's pick in 02 against PSU was simply the loudest moment in Shoe history.
I was thinking about this earlier, and I think that play was probably the 2nd/3rd loudest the Horseshoe has ever been. The loudest, IMO, was in 2002 vs. Michigan a) After Darrion Scott forced John Navarre to fumble with less than 3 minutes to go, and b) when Will Allen intercepted the final pass. All three still give me chills to this day.
