Lou Holtz (Official Thread)

NO KIDDING! LOL! But same question??

The ONLY affilation Dunbar had with ND was that she went to a QB Club luncheon. She was not a student, graduate, booster or an employee. Anyone could go to those luncheons. It is unbelievable that she still lives here and and she just ticks me off everytime I see her.

That and that she spent 18k on Irish Players.
And that Notre Dame officials expect the university to face violations.
You sure that one rolling rock isn't affecting your reading comprehension?

We all know that Cousin Jethro's Granny Holtz ain't gonna get no whuppin' from ESPN he's what, the third winningest coach of all time and has all those great commercials? And just because he's been caught red-handed with his fingers in the cookie jar doesn't mean their eyes will even water as they deep throat him and gloss over these minor indescretions. South Carolina won't garner the national spotlight or the ratings appeal of one of the top programs of all time...

Holtz is on ESPN because he was successful at ND. It's going to be, "Coach... tell us about Rocket... Tim Brown... your balls in our mouth...how Woody Hayes taught you to cheat pathologically, perhaps, and how you wash Uncle Jed's socks in the cement pond?"

You might be surprised just how many people are considered 'boosters'. I know that I didn't think I was one until I got the info from tOSU last year.

And yes, I'm a Buckeyes booster, not a leprechaun.

Holtz has been a CROOK at every location that he hangs his hat, he even took the crooked route while he was at the NY Jets.

I was born and raised in the same area as Holtz and when I say anything at all bad about him most people around here want to tar and feather me.

Holtz is, was, and always will be a crook and I think him leaving EVERY team that he has EVER been head coach at in serious trouble says it all.

Geez, trying to read through this stuff from the NCAA, this whole thing reflects worse on the NCAA, than on the 'cocks, IMHO.

Violation #1 - extra, impermissable tutoring - oh, the horrors! - and then making the ineligiblity retroactive.

Violation #4 - the ex-governor schmoozing with players and 1 recruit

Violation #6 - kid rides along to pick up another prospect, and since it was too far away, when he returns it counts as a scond visit - no wonder no school can avoid breaking NCAA rules.

Violation #8 - very subjective

Viollation #9 - even more subjective - and so what if they gave a kid a ride?

To me, this just gives a good example of what a self-perpetuating system the NCAA has established in order to justify their own existence. Bureaucracy gone wild.

There will be nothing on Sportscenter or anything else by espin.

Holtz is to join their college football analyst team this upcoming season, so they don't want to do anything to damage that.

If espin doesn't report it, who will? It's just another case of bad journalism by espin. As if anyone is surprised.

Here is one of the most crooked coaches in the history of college football, and what network is he going to be on? Enough said.

Jackie Sherrill - every program he leaves finds its way to probation amid NCAA violations. Sherrill is considered a crook (which he is)

Lou Holtz - every program he leaves finds its way to probation amid NCAA violations. Everyone still loves the guy.

Figure that one out.

Lack of institutional control?

After all the trouble we've been through in the last 3 years, I'm a little cautious when criticizing another program.

Perhaps at some point, the NCAA should look at changing some things in their
violation handbook (understatement).

I don't know enough about Holtz' past to have an opinion. What has he done at Ark, Minn, ND that would cause so many to call him one of the most crooked coaches in cfb ?

I'm not a big believer in the 'ESPN hates OSU' idea, but their reporting on this issue does seem a bit quiet in relation to the number of violations.

It's called charm and media presence. Holtz is always ready with the one-liner or the self-deprecating joke. The "..because he couldn't go for three" quote is sometimes attributed to him. He can charm you as he picks your pocket.

Sherrill? No chance, not the same.
