Look Who's Transferring Now (The Portal)

I figure for next year we have three really good options for the Interior with Carson, Tegra, and Austin.
We are really going to need a tackle and defensive lineman for sure (especially ends).
My hope is Simmons comes back but I sort of doubt that’ll happen.

My hope is Donovan Jackson (currently a rsJR) comes back but I sort of doubt that'll happen either. I do think that the chances of Josh Simmons (rsJR/TR) coming back is a lot better than Donovan Jackson coming back though. The only 2 OL that had significant playing time that definitely won't be back are Seth McLaughlin (GR/TR) and Josh Fryar (rsSR) as they used up all their college eligibility.

Don’t think Jackson has any eligibility left, as he played most games as a freshman. Simmons has eligibility, but it’s unlikely he comes back unless his draft stock plummets due to his injury.
I guess we’ll need to get a left tackle from the portal and hope we can develop a right tackle.

No chance.

Other than Tegra and I guess now Austin, it will be an entirely new offensive line next year.

You don't think Carson Hinzman (rsSO) will be back? I figured that if he wanted to transfer (after what happened last year) he would have left after last year's season. In addition, I'll say now he worked his way out of the proverbial coaches "dog house" and is now back to his former position of OC1. It may be in his best interest to stick it out one more year just to graduate* too. Regardless, they definitely need to get a OT (or 2) out of the transfer portal for 2025. They just don't have much "proven" depth on the OL (especially if Jackson and Simmons don't return).

* A fine student-athlete, Carson earned a trio of academic accolades in 2023: Big Ten Conference Distinguished Scholar (for having a grade point average at or above 3.70), Academic All-Big Ten and OSU Scholar-Athlete. He is majoring in sport industry.

LT 74 Jackson, Donovan RS JR 72 Armstrong, Deontae FR
LG 67 Siereveld, Austin RS FR 51 Montgomery, Luke SO
C 75 Hinzman, Carson RS SO 62 Padilla, Joshua RS FR
RG 77 Tshabola, Tegra RS SO 54 Wilson, Toby RS JR 58 VanSickle, Gabe FR
RT 70 Fryar, Josh RS SR 68 Fitzpatrick, George RS SO 69 Moore, Ian FR
Injured:
71 Simmons, Josh RS JR/TR 65 Michalski, Zen RS JR
56 McLaughlin, Seth GR/TR

I had the wrong year in my head - I thought he was a RS Junior. Either way, I don't think the cupboard is as bare as people want to think it is....especially on the interior. Finding tackles is important but I believe the coaching staff has earned the opportunity for people to....ahem....trust the coaches.

I can see honestly several hundred(200+) OTs hit the Portal from various divisions. It’s up to the collectives if they want to get In some bidding wars, but the talent will be available
