Look Who's Transferring Now (The Portal)

LSU running back John Emery Jr. enters the transfer portal

LSU running back John Emery Jr., a former top-15 recruit who saw the field in spurts with the Tigers, entered the transfer portal Tuesday as a graduate student.

Emery, ESPN's No. 11 overall recruit in the 2019 class, had 1,062 career rushing yards and 14 touchdowns with the Tigers, starting five games and appearing in 37. He saw his most extensive action in 2021 and 2022, logging 75 and 76 carries, respectively.

Emery missed all of the 2021 season because of academic reasons and also was away from the team to work on his academics early in 2023, but returned and did not miss any games.

Just sayin': The 2 things that sticks out here are 1) he is a graduate and 2) he had significant academic problems in 2021 and 2023. I have no idea what his degree is in, assistance he received from the LSU Athletic Department, and/or the level of "academic difficulty" is at LSU; but I give him credit, he (apparently) did graduate.

With Edwards gone and also another of their backup RB, I think Hayden has the room to himself now? Got what he wanted in the end. That said, when someone who has had a relationship with Deion since middle school decides to transfer after one year...that should be a red flag. Maybe Dallan wants one year to shine and then heads to the NFL.

Hopefully Edwards heads back to KSU, where he was previously committed. He and Avery Johnson would be a fun duo.

Agree on all! But it’ll be interesting to see Hayden behind one of the worst OLs in CFB that is essentially being led by a true frosh and the rest transfers. Hayden gets what he wants, but IMO there were better options.

Prime will love Dallan. He's the son of a pro and it shows.
Deion and Dallan's father (Aaron) were probably on the same field twice: in San Diego in '95 and in Green Bay in '97. Having been with the Eagles, albeit briefly, in 1998, Aaron would have shared a locker room with players who had played against Deion twice a year for the previous 3 years. Though there's nothing here that suggests that they so much as knew each other, it is more than enough to say that Aaron Hayden was more familiar with who Deion Sanders really is than any of us. (Which at some level makes this even more of a head scratcher)

Alabama center James Brockermeyer enters NCAA transfer portal

James Brockermeyer had seemingly emerged this spring as Alabama's top center.

After seemingly emerging this spring as Alabama's top center, James Brockermeyer entered the NCAA transfer portal Wednesday, sources confirmed to 247 Sports' Chris Hummer and Matt Zenitz.

Brockermeyer has a "do not contact" tag with his transfer portal entry. He enters this season as a redshirt junior with two years of eligibility remaining.

.
The son of former NFL offensive lineman Blake Brockermeyer, James arrived at Alabama less heralded than his brother Tommy, a five-star offensive tackle. But Tommy struggled to find his footing with the Tide in two seasons and transferred last year to TCU, then medically retired from football last month.
