Look Who's Transferring Now (The Portal)

Eastern Mennonite University Gets New Mascot
July 6, 2017
In an effort to more accurately represent the great Anabaptist tradition of the school, Eastern Mennonite University has decided to replace the Royal’s blue lion with an Australian emu.

“We really feel the emu represents everything our school stands for,” said EMU President Susan Schultz Huxman. “Plus, it’ll have the added benefit of attracting more Mennonite students from Melbourne and Sydney. There’s really a large population of Mennonites down there that, so far, we’ve left largely untapped.”

Hunter Risen:

Sparty to Kansas State to Fullerton College to Grand Valley State

“Ready to work. Committed,” the receiver wrote. At GVSU, Rison will have two years of eligibility with which to use.....I don't know what the transfer record is for football; however, he still could go for his 5th school....

UCLA starting OT Jake Burton enters transfer portal, reportedly wants to play in SEC or ACC this fall

Burton started 23 of the last 24 games, but is leaving the Bruins, who aren't playing this fall

UCLA isn't playing football this fall as a result of the Pac-12's decision to postpone its season to the spring. When the Bruins do tee it up, they'll do so without one of their top offensive players. Offensive tackle Jake Burton, a two-year starter for coach Chip Kelly, announced on Twitter that he will enter the transfer portal in the hopes of catching on somewhere this fall.

"I wish to thank God and my family for all of the love, guidance, and support they have given me during my time at UCLA," he wrote … "I was looking forward to finishing my college career with my Bruin teammates. Due to circumstances beyond anyone's control, that is not possible this year. After much though, I have decided to enter the portal in hopes of gaining the opportunity to play football this fall."

Ben Bolch of the Los Angeles Times reported on Twitter that Burton is targeting SEC and ACC schools as his transfer destination.

Is this the start of an exodus from the B1G and PAC-12?

And so it begins.

Stupid of any of the higher tier prospects. You aren't going to learn enough in 2 weeks of practice to dispose the guy infront of you and if you can the teams will be absolute dogshit anyways. I get that you want to play dude but it's far too late for that this year unless you want to play the last 1/4th of the season and bowl game.
From where I sit, with a realistic date of 13 months away before seeing football again, 1/4 of a season and a bowl game sound pretty good.

Wyatt Davis can move one week before the season begins and start all season long.

Justin Fields would be welcomed to just about anywhere and would not ride the bench.

Same for Wade. He may not know the scheme on day one, but the talent level between him and who he would be competing with would be huge.

Many of these teams will be starting true Frosh. It is nice to be there for Spring camp and all of fall. But if you are a stud you will play.

Justin Fields would absolutely ride the bench unless you are talking about Vandy, Arkansas, Duke etc... He's not going to pick up the offense that quick and if him going out there and playing backhard football is better then what they have they aren't worth playing for. Sure just Fields could go to Vandy and start day one, play backyard football and get the hell beaten out of him. But that doesn't mean it's a good idea. He risks injusry no shot to win a championship and he'd prbably be better off training with a QB guru for all those months. I won't ut it past them cause they are young and make emotional decisions but tht doesn't mean transfering a few weeks before a season is a good idea. Corners asked only to play man could pribably get away with it as maybe something like a d end in arush package? Otherwise not knowing the scheme would be a disaster. Look at a highly talented OSU defense 2 years ago.

Every guy you listed here would be better off leaving school, signing with an agent and training for the draft than transferring to a different program less than a month before the season (potentially) kicks off. And my hunch is that's exactly what all three of them will do.

Yes and no. He's not going to replace a starter at Ohio State, Penn State, Wisconsin, or Michigan, but what about Rutgers? I could see a bad program suddenly have a talent lift that could pay off by the final four games of the season.

That was my point wit the team being absolute dogshit anyways. I get their kids and want to play football especially those who's senior year it is. But is playing for a Rutgers/Vandy/Duke level school where you waste a season playing backyard football because you didn't know the plays till most of the way through the season going to do anything for your draft status? The kids who aren't going anywhere and just want to play their senior year those who are average to good college players with no nfl prospoects are probably the only ones it should appeal to. But the problem with that is a lot of those guys are the team captian scrapped and clawed their way to get here and would leave their body bruised and broken for the team and chance at a natty with their brothers typ that value the memories and relationships with their teammates just as much if not more so then playing. So would many of those types leave the teemates they consider brothers behind for a chance to play somewhere else?

Certainly helped the Bucks to have the tackle from Rutgers, and Hairball would have had a losing season without Ruddock and probably would have been fired without Ruddock and Mississippi Jesus.
