It’s a different game today than anything in the past including last year. How do you navigate it as a program as a coach as a fan? This isn’t fun anymore.
The difference now is legit starters are leaving for more money, and not just guys buried in the depth chart wanting playing time. It’s a different game today than anything in the past including last year. How do you navigate it as a program as a coach as a fan?
I will continue to argue that the schools and NCAA framework is dead. Trying to use that to manage the new reality will only create more problems. The difference now is legit starters are leaving for more money, and not just guys buried in the depth chart wanting playing time.
The NCAA and the schools will have to come up with a framework, because the current system is unsustainable.
There needs to be contracts like the NFL, with some loopholes built in because of the different nature of college athletics.I will continue to argue that the schools and NCAA framework is dead. Trying to use that to manage the new reality will only create more problems.
These are pro athletes, playing for pro sports organizations that use University brand names for purposes of the market place.
Think about it like that and then the issue of talent acquisition starts to be a lot easier to imagine a solution for.
Making them employees is about the only way to do it through the schools. Problem there is all the title 9 bullshit and interference you are going to get from the govt. There needs to be contracts like the NFL, with some loopholes built in because of the different nature of college athletics.

The big time places (OSU, UGA etc) are going to break off into a league of their own like a lower level NFL at some point imo.
Hu? I thought teams weren’t allowed to kick the ball past the 25 yard line?50-yard field goals? Impossible
I’ve been talking about the minor league system for a while, it only makes sense at this point. No one in the NCAA can do anything to corale this situation they made. And congress said they want no parts of it, because they know the students should be paid What the market dictates, and it’s honestly be much more than NIL.Yep, if this feels like NFL Lite now, just wait.
I think it was you who mentioned it in a recruiting thread, about the bigger schools utilizing the schools in lower divisions as feeder systems. That's definitely coming, in fact I think that's gonna be necessary for the sport to survive. That and the employee bit you mentioned.
If schools break away, and only play each other, no more pay days in early September for the have nots. Paying them to develop players not only helps keep development and quality up across the board, but it'll keep those schools invested. Need to create an incentive, otherwise the small schools are just getting poached if they're any good, with nothing to show for it.
The more kids playing the better, despite whatever umbrella they're playing under, be it the NCAA or the coming super league(s).
RUNNING BACKS
There will be plenty of running backs for teams to choose from during this transfer portal cycle but, like the quarterbacks, this year probably won’t feature as many high-end prospects.
The mixed bag of Power Four, Group of Five and Ivy League running backs that have already entered or announced their intention to enter the transfer portal will garner plenty of attention. But outside of Iowa transfer Leshon Williams – who has committed to Kansas – no clear difference makers have emerged.
Fans should keep names like CJ Campbell Jr. from Florida Atlantic, Jaylon Glover from Utah, Malachi Hosley from Penn and Kanye Roberts from App State in mind
OFFENSIVE LINE
The offensive line transfer class will be stocked with immediate contributors, most of whom are likely to be transferring up to the Power Four level. Derek Simmons out of Western Carolina, Will Reed from Princeton, Brady Norton from Cal Poly, Tommy Matheson from Princeton, Jordan White from Liberty, Brady Wilson from UAB and Teague Andersen from Utah State have been picking up a lot of Power Four offers and interest in the last week or so.
Luke Baklenko from Stanford, Corey Robinson from Georgia Tech, Mahamane Moussa from Purdue, Terrence Moore from Pittsburgh and Jac’Qawn McRoy from Oregon are set to be very popular Power Four transfers.
Most teams across the country are focusing much of their retention efforts on offensive linemen so the transfer market for truly elite offensive linemen will be fierce.
DEFENSIVE LINE
There should be a fairly large number of quality defensive linemen in the transfer portal and a handful of them could make a significant impact next season.
Jaheim Oatis from Alabama, Kelby Collins from Florida and Keeshawn Silver from Kentuckywill have plenty of options to choose from. Da’Shawn Womack, Deshawn Warner, Collins Acheampong and Gabriel Brownlow-Dindy were high-profile high school prospects looking for a fresh start next year.
Many college football fans may not have been too familiar with Cazeem Moore from Elon, Santana Hopper from Appalachian State, Cole Brevard from Purdue, Horace Lockett from Georgia Tech, Vincent Jackson from Nebraska or Red Hibbler from NC State. These defensive linemen are getting a lot of attention from college coaches already.
There is a very competitive market for high-end defensive linemen so look for a few well-known players to make the jump and enter the transfer portal.
Sooner rather than later hopefully. Then the playoffs will/should be more NFL based.Making them employees is about the only way to do it through the schools. Problem there is all the title 9 bullshit and interference you are going to get from the govt.
