Probably a good thing. First time I had it (I may or may not have been of legal drinking age) it tasted great. Had it again a few years later once I was legally allowed and it tasted awful.
depending on the years involved there may be a good explanation for that.
prior to Katrina (August '05) Dixie was brewed in New Orleans and was pretty good.
due to flooding and Damages, Dixie moved to like Milwaukee or some shit and the formula changed.
Tom Benson (Saints owner before he died) eventually bought Dixie, moved it back to NOLA and brought back the original formula.
no clue what formula the new name uses because on principle alone, I refuse to purchase it.
Historic side note:
the name "Dixie" in New Orleans pre-dates the confederacy by quite a bit. It was a 10 cent piece back when Louisiana was still owned by the French. The name of the beer was in reference to that, not the nickname of the Old South.
People completely uneducated about history decided in 2020 that (after zero public complaints had ever been made about it) that Dixie must be changed from it's racist roots. this was during that summer when everyone was changing their names for shit like that.
And because people are completely stupid and this was all just virtue signaling with no actual substance they elect to use the name Faubourg.
Named after a neighborhood in New Orleans.
the kicker is that the neighborhood is named after the old Faubourg Plantation.
Which was a plantation that had slaves.
So from a form of currency pre-dating Louisiana even being owned by the US to an actual Slave owning Plantation.
From a name with zero actual racism/slavery ties to a name drowning in actual slavery/racism ties.
all so Gayle Benson could go on (local) TV and say "look at me! I'm fixing things!"
so I refuse to buy the new beer and hope they go out of business.
