They have a billion people, test all the kids, take the best of the best to a school where all they do is prepare for the Olympics. If we did shit like that I probably would have been thrown in a pool when I was a kid and been hanging out with Michael Phelps for the past 20 years instead of becoming a fat ass offensive lineman.

IMO the biggest thing that holds the US back is that our premiere male athletes don't play Olympic sports except for basketball, which we dominate. There is more diversity in women's sports here so we perform better across the board. The Olympics is nice, but I'll take football season any day.

I wouldn't doubt it. Lochte has to be the clear favorite. Him and Phelps were both on cruise control in the final 100m but I think Lochte put in a little more work than Phelps to get the 2/3 bodylength margin. I expect the final to be a little closer between them.
