London Olympics: "We're pretty much ready..."

Also, random NBC barb of the day...but I love John McEnroe on TV. Love it. It is never dull, he calls tennis like it should be, he talks about when he played occasionally, but always within the context of the current match and never to build himself up at the expense of the action on court, he isn't afraid to say a guy is "bricking forehands", but he is also effusive in praise when deserved...so what does NBC do? They get McEnroe and immediately...send him to interview Ryan Lochte...a swimmer. WTF? That was possibly the most pointless fluff piece ever, and a complete waste of a dynamic TV talent. Typical NBC, take something you can't fuck up, and fuck it up royally.

It's not the first time they've miscast McEnroe.

This Has Never Happened

They weren't. They got their first men's swimming medal in any olympics last night. They have made a big effort to improve in swimming and it's starting to show.

She beat Lochte in his last 50, and negative split that 50 in her last 100 too. In swimming world that is unheard of. Granted this is not a straight up race comparison, but no woman's time in any event comes close to any men's time. For her to not only negative split (that alone is insane), but beat the men's Gold medalist in his last 50 is unprecedented.
