Local Editorial Bashes Buckeye Fans

Just as a previous poster said... this is a sports article written by a woman in the Findlay Courier, a paper who's main headline almost everyday is about how well Ben Roethlisberger's sister performed in volleyball or basketball. Joy Brown is most likely some homely woman who has been humped and dumped by multiple OSU fans, left in a bitter rage she decided to bash everyone who cheers for something successful.

Since I drive past The Courier every day on my way to work... I'll be sure to hang my middle finger out the window, and hopefully, just hopefully Joy Brown will be lucky enough to be walking by.:osu:

Here she is... certainly a 'joy' to look at. I like how in Jan.04 she was saying smoking is her right and rudeness won't make her quit, then in Nov.04 she writes a goodbye letter to cigarettes. Her amateurish column would be right at home in "The Lantern".

She's due for an old Hate F&^% and a swift Donkey Punch. Maybe a Cleveland Steamer afterwards will get her thinking about the Browns instead of the Buckeyes. :slappy:

I was visiting a friend at UD and found a similar annoying article. From my experience, Buckeye fans are the opposite of what she describes. She goes to school in fucking Ohio. If our fans are too much for her to deal with she could have chosen to go to school elsewhere.

<TABLE class=Article cellSpacing=3 width="100%"><TBODY><TR><TH colSpan=2>Senior feels sorry for The Ohio State University football fans, urges need for them to ‘move on’

</TH></TR><TR><TD colSpan=2>
I never minded Ohio State University before I attended college in Ohio.

Prior to coming to school here, I hadn’t had much previous experience with people from this state. Shortly after I started living in Ohio, I found out Ohio State football fans are the most obnoxious people on this planet.
I was completely naïve to this entire world of Ohio State football. I actually find it interesting how completely intelligent and competent people, including many of my friends, can turn into such imbeciles as soon as the topic of Ohio State football is brought up in conversation. It’s almost as if the state of Ohio brainwashes these innocent citizens into cheering for this team. Why is it that everyone is so insufferably passionate about this football team?

Even NFL players who graduated from Ohio State have this unbelievable arrogance about their alma mater. One would think after they graduated from college football to the NFL, this type of behavior would stop. I understand they are proud of their university, but they seriously need to move on.

Before football games on ESPN, the announcers go over the starting line up for the offense and the defense and there is a short video clip of each player saying their name and where they played in college. The way the players from Ohio State emphasize the word “the” in the Ohio State University makes me want to vomit. This adds to the overall obnoxiousness of Ohio State football.

Let’s take my roommate Rusty for example. Rusty is a great guy who does not get worked up about too many things. He is one of the most even-tempered people I know; except when it comes to Ohio State football. Rusty, and every other Ohio State fan, become even more intolerable when they are in groups. They revert back to primal creatures, yelling and screaming incoherently. They may or may not even soil themselves when they are fixed in this trance-like state.

Last Saturday, when Ohio State played Texas, I thought the entire state of Ohio was going to shut down on behalf of the big game. All I heard about during the week leading up to the game was how Ohio State was going to slaughter Texas and how they will become the national champions.

I felt sheer joy when I saw Ohio State fans crying into their beers that night. I had nothing to say except, “Hook ’em Horns!” And to think I had no problem with these people until I crossed the Ohio border.
So, I urge Ohio State fans to please relax and find some other way to occupy their time. I genuinely feel sorry for you now that you have no chance at winning the national title. What are you going to do with yourselves?

I agree that she is fishing for a response, but:

Joyless Brown said:
Losses, however, are sometimes dealt with in more covert ways. The Associated Press on Wednesday reported that Ohio State tight end Ryan Hamby has received some hate mail from angry fans due to a pass he failed to catch in the end zone during the recent game with Texas.
It seems like Ms. Brown's article is her "hate mail" to Buckeye fans. Hard to believe that a journalist could engage in such hypocrisy... :roll1:

I must not have that I'm-better-than-you pompous fan gene in me.
Perhaps not, but it seems she was lucky enough to acquire all the other I'm-better-than-you pompus genes.

Dissenters like me, defectors and fans of other teams are often met with outright hostility. No wonder, since it doesn't take much to aggravate some Buckeye folk.
And yet she's willing to go the extra mile and put in a great deal of effort anyway... what a dear sweet soul. :roll2:

BTW, I didn't grow up with Ohio State Football, or much football in general, or any ties to Ohio whatsoever. I didn't understand the obsession when my original Buckeye buddy forced me to watch D'Andrea's Rivals vids repeatedly and blathered on relentlessly about the team. Day after day, hour after hour... (That should get him out here if he's lurking... hehe.) Would never have occurred to me be annoyed, though... it's a joy (irony intended) to see someone enjoy something so darn much. What kind of person despises someone else's happiness??? Glad I finally started to "get it" when I saw my first game, though... I was really missing out!

Anyway... whatever. Hey sears - want a recipe for quiche? :p
