7 of the top 23.. with 3 more as possibilities... pretty good coverage...

but then I have to suspect the list... last I checked, Rocco Cironi (#27) was not a 6'1" WR for Walsh !!!

Top 50 prospects

according to nfl draft blitz...

http://www.nfldraftblitz.com/top50recruits.htm

By: Chris Harring, Luke Chandler,
Caleb Johnson, Ryan Jones, Billy Q. Russyk

1. Fred Rouse, WR- Fred is easily one of the most sought after prospects in the nation this year. Fred has great size at 6'4" and 190 lbs, and legit 4.4 speed. Just about every big program you can think of wants him: Miami (Fl), FSU, Florida, Oklahoma, Texas, Southern Cal, Ohio State, and Alabama.

Prediction: Florida

2. Tray Blackmon, OLB- Tray is easily the fastest LB to come out of this class of HS Seniors. He has great closing speed, and outstanding instincts. A possible to switch to Safety has been discussed for Tray. He has a solid commitment to Auburn.

Prediction: Auburn

3. Derrick Williams, ATH- Derrick is the cream of the crop of this class at any position. He is highly sought after due to his versatility and overall athletic prowess. He has the skills to play WR, QB, or CB at a high level. Williams has unbelievable footwork and speed. At this point he is dialed in to play WR at Penn State in the fall 2005.

Prediction: Penn St.

4. Callahan Bright, DT- Callahan is an absolute bull on the football field. He simply overpowers his opponents. While not the fleetest of foot, Callahan never gives up on a play and pursues the ball carrier to till the whistle blows. While his academics could hold him back from qualifying, at this point he has settled on either Florida State or Texas A&M as his college of choice.

Prediction: Texas A&M

5. Marlon Lucky, RB- Marlon is a five star HB recruit. His speed, footwork, and vision are reminiscent of Reggie Bush in his senior year of high school. Marlon has a great second gear that allows him to run away from defenders once he hits the second level, but don't think he's a finesse back only. He can run over defenders also. Marlon has committed to the University of Nebraska.

Prediction: Nebraska

6. Jamario O’Neal, CB- Jemario has to be one of the most committed players in the nation. He verbaled to Ohio State well over a year ago, and really hasn’t done much questioning of the choice since. Unless something major happens in the near future (like involving the recruiting scandal), he’s a definite.

Prediction: Ohio St.

7. Eugene Monroe, OT- Big Eugene Monroe committed early last summer to Virginia, as just the latest example to Al Groh’s dominance in New Jersey. At 6-6, 320 pounds, Eugene would certainly be a nice replacement if D’Brickashaw Ferguson heads to the NFL.

Prediction: Virginia

8. Kenneth Phillips, S- Him being named Defensive player of the Year really sums up his talents. Kenny flies to the ball, makes the big play, and he’ll still lay the WR out. He listed the Big Three Florida schools as his favorites, but he also said that Ed Reed and Sean Taylor were his favorite players…

Prediction: Miami (FL)

9. Mark Sanchez, QB- The top QB in the nation, Sanchez will be headed to USC next year. Sanchez does everything well, even run with it if needed, and should be able to at least make some noise in the QB race next year if Matt Leinart does go pro.

Prediction: USC

10. Brian Cushing, OLB- Cushing is a superb athlete as a Linebacker, and has the ability to move to Safety if the college he chooses really needs him there. His top schools are USC, Miami, Louisville, BC, UVA, and Notre Dame, but it’s most likely that only the first three have any real shot. He’d fit in at USC replacing another LB/S Matt Grootegood.

Prediction: USC

11. Ryan Perrilloux, QB- Perriloux is one of the best running/passing threats that’s come out of High School in the past 5 years. The USA Today Offensive player of the year has already committed to Texas as the heir apparent to Vince Young, and despite taking visits elsewhere, that’s where he’ll likely end up.

Prediction: Texas

12. Alex Boone, OT- Boone didn’t even give the recruiting junkies a chance to wonder about where he’s going. His early commitment to his hometown team, the Ohio State University, is with 100% certainty it seems, and with all the issues OSU has been going through lately, they should be lucky Ohio still produces such talent.

Prediction: OSU

13. Luther Brown II, ILB- Luther Brown is just a physical beast. His natural gifts and 6-3, 235 pound body will let him make an immediate impact in the middle of his future school’s defense. Miami and a few others are still in it, but he’s likely to stay home in California.

Prediction: USC

14. Patrick Turner, WR- The 6-5 monster WR from Tennessee has more than just a school choice on his hands. He can stay hometown and grow up with the UT Freshman QBs, go out to California and be another weapon on the Trohan offense, or head to Miami and try to be the next Kellen Winslow.

Prediction: USC

15. Antone Smith, RB- Despite only being 5-8, Smith is one of the most sought after running backs in the country because of his incredible speed and elusiveness. Right now, he has it down to two schools, Miami and Auburn. Miami is the hometown favorite, but Auburn has been closing the gap recently.

Prediction: Miami (FL)

16. Reggie Smith- He is one of the most talented defensive backs in the nation. At 6-1, running a 4.47 in the 40, he is extremely versatile, playing both S and CB. He is in a recruiting with OU, Nebraska and USC as the three favorites.

Prediction: Oklahoma

17. Ryan Reynolds- He is one of the most athletically gifted players in the nation. At one of the Nike camps, he ran a 4.6 forty and put up 185 lbs 49 times in the bench press. Reynolds uses his combination of size and athleticism to make so many plays. The favorites are OU and UCLA.

Prediction: UCLA

18. Victor Harris- Probably will play CB in college, although he is an excellent RB. He has excellent speed and athleticism. A couple of analysts feel that he is every bit as good as Derrick Williams.

Committed: Virginia Tech

19.Phillip Dillard- Has ideal size for a LB. He moves well for someone his size. Dillard feels that it's his ability to shed blockers well will make him a great college player.

Committed: Nebraska

20. Justin King- An absolute burner at CB. He is as fast as just about anyone in the nation and will shut down just about anyone in the nation. Has measurables similar to CB DeAngelo Hall.

Committed: Penn State

21. Dan Doering, OT- Doering, at one time the Rivals.com #1 rated Offensive Tackle prospect, has the perfect blend of size, at 6’6 300 pounds, and speed, a 5 flat forty yard dash, to make an impact at the college level. Colleges will have to build on his strength, but if his high school films are any indication of how good he is, this physical big man will make whoever picks him up very, very happy. He’s considering three schools now; Iowa, Oklahoma and Tennessee; and plans to announce his decision at the January 15th U.S. Army All American game.

Prediction: Iowa

22. Ekom Udofia, DT- Ekom might not yet be the stereotypical size for an NCAA Defensive Tackle (6’1, 288 pounds) but at last summer’s Nike Combine, Udofia lifted 410 pounds and repped 185 an outstanding 48 times. A big concern for college coaches trying to reel in Udofia is the fact that he suffered a broken fibula in four places earlier this year and will be recovering from the injury deep into the 2005 summer, when most true freshman are reporting to campus and getting ready to contribute their first season. Udofia wants to play early, however, and most bet will be willing to push through the pain until it heals completely for the 2005 season. Udofia has taken all five of his visits and will at the U.S. Army All American Game his college destination. Right now the final five schools on Udofia’s list are Miami (FL), Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, USC and Stanford.

Prediction: Miami (FL)

23. Reginald Youngblood, OT- Reggie Youngblood is the prototypical offensive tackle. 6’5, 285 pounds, and carrying a mean demeanor. He will carry that mean demeanor with him to Lineman U, otherwise known as the University of Miami. Miami plucked Youngblood from some healthy competition to say the least, as he carried offers from Florida, Florida State, LSU, Oklahoma, Texas, and Tennessee along with the U. Miami will need to put some beef on Youngblood and get him a bit stronger, but that’s all they need to do, as Youngblood is already NCAA ready with natural lineman form.

Prediction: Miami (FL)

24. Marques Slocum, OG- If Super-Sized was a term for people, Slocum would definitely fit the bill. 6’4, 331 pounds, 335 pound bench press and just seriously began lifting weights before his senior year? Slocum’s potential as a college guard is down-right scary. Sporting a 5 flat in the forty, this heavyweight can kick it in to high gear on pull blocks, and has the power to completely destroy the poor defensive end or outside linebacker waiting on the other side. Slocum is a “don’t stop until you hear the whistle” guy, and that’s what college coaches love about him. Marques could also play defensive tackle, but is a much better prospect on the other side of the ball. The fight for Slocum is down to two, Michigan and Michigan State. With Michigan’s class deep with OL, I look for him to look at depth and become a Spartan before it’s all said-and-done.

Prediction: Michigan State

25. Averell Spicer, DE- At 6’2, 260 pounds, Averell Spicer has some wheels. Sporting a time of 4.6 and a bench press of 315, it is rare to find someone who could play both rush end OR defensive tackle in college. Spicer fits that rare bill, however. While it was never a secret to start with, Spicer recently committed to USC on his official visit to the campus. Not only is Averell a great talent on the field, but also considered a great leader by his high school teammates. He will have his work cut out for him at a disgustingly talent-infested Southern California, but rest assured Averell will be a player for the Trojans.

Prediction: USC

26. DeMarcus Granger, DT- Don’t let the size fool you. This 6’3, 315 pounder can really move. With that size, a 405 pound bench press, and a 4.9 forty time, you have to have STUD written all over you. And that’s exactly what DeMarcus Granger is. Not only just a big body or a strong bulldozer, but DeMarcus also has the agility and talent to shed blocks when needed. Although I’m sure he’d prefer to just run over a couple O-Lineman and leave cleat marks on them en route to their beloved QB. His final five schools consist of Arizona State, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, LSU and Tennessee. Rating his visit to Oklahoma as a “perfect 10,” it’s hard to think of DeMarcus not in crimson next year.

Prediction: Oklahoma

27. Kevin Grady, RB- If prospects were rated on a scale of which films kept you the most entertained, Grady Jr. would be right up there with Jamario O’Neal and Tray Blackmon, without a doubt the most impressive film from a running back this year. Fitting the exact description of a young Jerome Bettis, you won’t take Grady down with one man. Hell, you probably won’t be able to take him down with five. You need over half of your team on Grady to even get him to think of going down. That’s what’s helped him lead his East Grand Rapids teams to three consecutive state titles, shattering many Michigan rushing records along the way, including career rushing yards, in which he topped the old record by more than 600 yards, finishing out with 8,439. Don’t expect Michael Hart’s run to last long as the starting RB at Michigan; Kevin Grady has already graduated early and is expected to enroll in classes at Michigan this upcoming semester and be ready for spring ball. It’s not often you find a talent like Grady, and there’s good possibilities that he will knock Hart off of his throne.

Prediction: Michigan

28. Dajleon Farr, TE- Martellus who? If Miami knows what’s best for them, they will drop even considering Martellus Bennett and go after Dajleon Farr. At 6’6 and 240 pounds, and flaunting a 365 pound bench press (better than a lot of highly recruited high school OT’s) and a 4.5 forty yard dash, Farr is an amazing athlete and raising the bar for the prototypical TE. He also has a MUCH better head on his shoulders than the prima-donna, “go pro as early as possible” Bennett. Farr is the obvious choice for the best TE in the nation, I don’t know how anyone could see it any different. His LSU commitment is about 90% likely to be naught with the departure of head coach Nick Saban. If so, Miami is his dream college and next choice, but should Bennett side with Miami over Texas, it’s likely that Farr would go elsewhere, possibly sticking with LSU or being Big XII bound, going with Oklahoma, Texas or Nebraska. He has reportedly already committed to Miami.

Prediction: Miami (FL)

29. Derek Nicholson, ILB- Strong, fast, intelligent, a nose for the football. What do all of these things have in common? They are all what you want in a middle linebacker, and all what one lucky school will get in Derek Nicholson. At 6’, 220 and sporting a 4.6 timed forty, Nicholson is a tackling machine, racking up over 600 tackles in his high school career, easy. His older brother A.J. starts for Florida State, which could mean Derek is taken as a Florida State lock, right? Wrong. Nicholson plans to make the best decision for him, and if he picks the Seminoles, it won’t be to follow his brother, according to him. Besides the Seminoles, the other three still in it are Miami (FL), Virginia Tech and North Carolina, so the ultra-talented Nicholson is definitely ACC bound. To where though?

Prediction: Virginia Tech

30. Leon Jackson, ATH- Leon Jackson is the definition of a true athlete. While most believe he projects as an All-American safety in college, his real calling is at running back. Jackson possesses amazing quickness and vision, and will be tested in college as he goes up against the best, one Marlon Lucky, for the starting job at Nebraska. With the talent that both Lucky and Jackson possess it has been brought up numerous times to run a committee backfield, a pro-set formation with two RBs, or even drop one in slot a-la USC. Whatever happens is yet to be seen, but one thing’s assured: it will be exciting.

Prediction: Nebraska

31. Nic Harris, S- The recent departure of Nick Saban for the NFL turned what was probably once a Tiger lock into a great southern recruiting battle. Nebraska and Michigan are still very much in the hunt for Harris, but the Tigers are probably still the favorite.

Prediction: LSU

32. Jesse White, C- You can talk about how impressive he is on the field, or that he already committed to Oklahoma, but the fact that hits home with most people is that he’s the son of Vader, the former WWF wrestler. It won’t have any impact on his performance, but that’s pretty cool.

Prediction: Oklahoma

33. Jonathan Crompton, QB- Despite having a longstanding commitment to Tennessee, it seems just as likely for Crompton to decommitt as it is for him to follow through. He’s not likely to see much playing time with both soon to be sophomore QBs Erik Ainge and Brent Schaeffer ahead of him, so a switch to South Carolina and Steve Spurrier isn’t out of the question.

Prediction: South Carolina

34. Chris Scott, OG- Scott has had plenty of awards heaped onto him during his career, including All American as both a Junior and Senior, however his best could be a starting job from day one. His athleticism at his size isn’t something that comes along every year, as I’m sure Georgia, Florida, and Tennessee are quite aware of.

Prediction: Tennessee

35. Martellus Bennett, TE- Bennett’s commitment to Miami seems like a lifetime ago. With Dajleon Farr’s commitment to the Canes, it closes the door on Bennett running back to Miami. Now he’s left with Texas as his fallback option, with also the possibility of playing basketball for Duke.

Prediction: Texas

36. Jerrell Powe, DT- Powe has tremendous size and is just unblockable. At 6-3 325 lbs. He creates matchup problems for every lineman he goes up against. He is being recruited by every school in the south and seems to be leaning toward Auburn, Mississippi, and Texas A&M.

Prediction: Auburn

37. Eugene Hayes, OLB- Hayes is a great OLB prospect with good speed. Moves well north south and laterally. Plays very instinctually according to his coach and can blitz well off the edge. He is being recruited heavily by Tennessee, Auburn, and FSU.

Prediction: Tennessee

38. Rey Maualuga, MLB- One of the best combinations of size and speed at his position. Will play MLB in college and should see immediate time no matter what school he goes to because of his playmaking ability. Has great closing speed and defends the pass well. Has it narrowed down to Oregon and USC.

Prediction: USC

39. Toney Baker, RB- Baker uses his speed and shiftiness at RB to make him one of the most productive backs in the nation. Has run for over 6,000 yards the past two years and almost 80 Td’s. Has tremendous vision according to his coach. He is favoring UNC and NC State.

Prediction: NC State

40. Kyle Moore, DE- Moore has great size for a DE and is one of the best pass rushers in the nation, as shown by his 15 sacks a year ago. With a few years of college football, he will remind people of BC DE Mathias Kiwanuka. He is favoring Miami, Oklahoma, and USC.

Prediction: Miami (Fl)

41. Eric Huggins, WR- Eric is one of the top jump ball artists in this class of WR's. He can change directions in mid air and still come down with the ball and make it look easy. Despite his long lean frame (6'3" 186 lbs), he can run with good power. Eric has committed to Oklahoma.

Prediction: Oklahoma

42. Ndamukong Suh, DT- Suh is a top pass rushing DT. He is exceptionally quick off the line, and collapses the pocket incredibly well. He also has experience playing outside at DE. While not the most powerful DT, he has a frame that could add bulk to it. Currently he is choosing between Cal, Mississippi State, Miami (Fl), Nebraska, and Oregon State.

Prediction: Cal

43. Bryan Evans, CB- Bryan is a guy who's bounced around between RB and KR, but finally settled on CB this season. He has outstanding speed, and can hit like a ton of bricks. While he will need some seasoning on his coverage skills, he is still a solid prospect. Currently he is choosing between Alabama, FSU, Georgia, LSU, and Tennessee.

Prediction: Tennessee

44. Dace Richardson, OT- Dace is very athletic for an OT. His long arms are very helpful in pass coverage. Dace is also an aggressive. To be successful though he will need to bulk up and add some lower body strength. Dace is currently being targeted by Iowa, Michigan, MSU, Nebraska, Southern Cal, Tennessee, and Wisconsin.

Prediction: Wisconsin

45. Rico McCoy, OLB- Rico is a very physical and aggressive OLB prospect. He does not shy away from blockers; he simply finds a way to get through them. His tackling skills are very fundamental, and very sound. He has good straight-line speed also. Rico is currently choosing between Ohio State and Tennessee.

Prediction: Ohio State

46. Harrison Beck, QB- The man hand chosen to lead the Cornhuskers back to glory. Beck committed to Nebraska very early in the recruiting process, probably to give himself a chance to get as familiar with the school as possible, so he can justify early playing time.

Prediction: Nebraska

47. Kade Weston, DT- Weston out of Red Bank New Jersey is one of the few top DT prospects that has already announced his commitment. He’ll be headed to Georgia as the lastest in their line of tall, dominant DTs (Sullivan, Stroud).

Prediction: Georgia

48. C.J. Byrd, ATH- CJ’s size (6-3) and potential at many positions had made Byrd a valuable commodity up until he signed with the Georgia Bulldogs. They project him as a safety in the future.

Prediction: Georgia

49. Spencer Adkins, OLB- Adkins is another amazing natural talent from the state of Florida. He lifts as much as lineman, and runs a sub 4.6 40. He has already committed to Miami to play linebacker, but could potentially move to Defensive End, where he played in High School. Either way, he’s looking at early playing time.

Prediction: Miami (Fla)

50. Craig Roark, OG- Regarded by some as the top guard in the country, the 6’3, 295 pound Roark lands at number 50 on the list. A West team All-American and Oklahoma native, Roark racked up an unbelievable 208 pancakes his senior season, en route to an 11-2 season. He also played defense, making 18 tackles in his final game. The Nebraska-bound Roark is expected to make an immediate impact for the Huskers, possibly even taking the open starting right guard position. 200 pancakes is a milestone few will ever reach in one season, and Craig Roark is definitely one of the elite, which is why he makes NDB’s top 50.

Prediction: Nebraska

and with all the issues OSU has been going through lately, they should be lucky Ohio still produces such talent.

What the hell does that mean?

I didn't realize that Troy Smith taking $ was going to make our High School players suck in some kind of statewide karmic trickledown curse.

I think its clear that the Browns troubles are also Troy Smiths fault... he's also the reason the Bengals missed the playoffs and why its raining in Columbus today.

I'm very surprised to see that they are predicting SEVEN of their top 50 to Miami. Also, six to USC, three to become Buckeyes - ONLY one to go to Meatchicken.

In reading this, I do wonder if they are Miamin fans though - especially after reading the blurb about Dajleon Farr. "Martellus who? If Miami knows what’s best for them, they will drop even considering Martellus Bennett and go after Dajleon Farr."

Sounds like a fan wrote that.

Miami fans ... these clowns are apparently Miami GRADS! Regularly referring to Miami as "The U" while taking two shots at tOSU?

I went to that nfl blitz place mothra was talking about. Did you know that Teddy Ginn will be playing with chris gamble after being drafted 3rd by the panthers in 07. Or that Fred Davis will be drafted 12th overall in 08 by the 49ers and be cathing passes from kyle orton, oh yeah BTW callahan Bright was the 1st overall pick that year(damn we should have recruited him a lot harder) and Derrrick williams was drafted ahead of FD.

I find this stuff amusing.

05 mock draft

06 mock draft

07 mock draft

08 mockdraft
