Lists of Top Prospects for 2005 (mega-merge)

I doesn't seem like the Florida schools, Miami, Florida and FSU are the recuiting powerhouses they once were. How bout LSU, one year after winning the co-national championship you'd think they'd be on top.
LSU had an amazing class last year... I'm not sure how many schollies they have to give for the incoming class.

It is rare to see a school, even Miami or USC get a #1 in the nation type recruiting class for two or three years in a row. Power schools are consistent Top 10/15 class types, but not #1, for several reasons.

1-Usually, a #1 type class has several players who are high profile #1 in the nation type recruits at a position. That scares kids in the next class, especially at the skill positions.

2-With limited scholarships, schools are sometimes forced to concentrate their resources at 1 or 2 positions, regardless of what other players, at other positions might be interested. For instance, Miami does not have many schollies this year and is concentrating on LBs and DTs. This means they cannot put the full court press on lots of WRs or CBs, because they need the room for other positions.

3-Sometimes a school gets lucky w/ the type of players available in-state, and this allows them to clean up. There are always top QBs in the LA/San Diego area-USC doesn't have to go far. scUM had the #1 RB in the nation in Grand Rapids, and a big time WR in Jackson-Antonio Bass. Michigan doesn't always have that kind of talent.

Right now, Nebraska,Tennessee, and Iowa are impressing me as surprises. Oklahoma, Miami,USC, Ohio State, Florida State are all very typical this year.
Virginia's class might be kinda overrated, and V-Tech's might be underrated, especially if Elan Lewis' knee-he hurt in in the Army game-is OK.

great post, but jimo Are all those solid ? I thought some of these guys were not commited yet, but wasn't quite sure. Anyway thanks for the update.

this is the reason i said suppusedly some of the info seems a bit off. the most obivous one is bemoll still to theOSU, or Gwaltney to WVU. I also dont take these ratings a a savior, they seem a tad off and probably are not as accurate as the "premium" stuff. look at Gwaltney, do you really think hes the #16 fb in the country? id say no. but like anything a different perspective is always nice.

Nice to see the Bucks getting pretty high-rated players at most positions (though it's strange to see no OSU verbals in the LB group).

Two words for our other recruits--Spitler, Laurinaitis, Jenkins, Russell: UNDER-RATED!! I can't wait for these guys to get here and start showing why they got their offers...

The rankings haven't changed since they were first posted on 1/10. The "committed to" list was updated after the AA game.

Obviously the rankings haven't changed, else Gwaltney wouldn't be the 16th ranked RB. He was as good as any back in the AA game, including Stewart.

Scout doesn't think much of him so he must not be that good
haha, I may have lost all respect for that site. There is no excuse for dropping almost every tOSU commit this late in the game.

But a big congratulations goes out to Maurice, Alex, JamO, Doug and Jason for being selected. You all earned the honors you have received and look forward to seeing you guys light it up in the Scarlet and Gray.
