Re: However, Miles’ representative, George Bass, told USA TODAY Sports earlier this week his client will be owed $15 million if he’s fired before Dec. 31. If LSU were to fire Miles without cause any time during a two-year period that begins Jan. 1, 2016, the contract says the initial buyout amount would be $12.9 million.

Unless the parties agree otherwise, their contract says, Miles would receive his money in equal monthly installments “over a period of time equal to twice the amount of time … remaining in the term” of the agreement. Since the deal is scheduled to run through Dec. 31, 2019, LSU would be able to spread its payments to Miles over an eight-year period — and the contract says the offset provision related to Miles’ income other employment would remain in force throughout that period.

I'm thinking LSU has their fingers crossed hoping he gets the job, i.e. it could save them whatever amount LSU still owes him.

LSU Tigers, Les Miles reach $1.5 million buyout agreement

Former football coach Les Miles, a candidate for Kansas' vacancy, on Thursday reached a settlement with LSU for a one-time, lump-sum payment of $1.5 million on his remaining guarantee from the school.

LSU still owed Miles $6.5 million in guaranteed salary after firing him in September 2016.

Does that mean he is preparing to return to coaching? and @ KU? The facilities are nice and all, but talk about an uphill climb. He has his work cut out for him. I've been witness to it for the past 10 yrs. Man, do I miss C-bus come September. Haven't even been able to watch the Jayhawks for the past 3-4 yrs, it's been so laughable.

yup. He could suck @ KU too, win 5-6 games a season and it would still be an improvement to what I've had to watch for the last 5 years. I could justify wasting a few Saturday afternoons to go see them play if they were at least competitive. I cannot currently. Miles would surely bring the entertainment factor back to Lawrence. He has a much better personality than Gill and Charlie. I think KU fans would welcome 5-6 "W's" as bad as things have been lately.
