Report: Kragthorpe hired as LSU coordinator

The LSU offensive coordinator's position should be one of the most sought-after in college football: a steady supply of premium-grade home-grown talent, a more-or-less permanent place in the race for one of the premier division titles in the sport, a fearsome defense that means your unit could, say, finish no higher than 11th in the conference in total yardage over two seasons and you could still claim a role in 20 wins over that span. Les Miles ought to have his pick of nearly any offensive assistant in the country.

So why on earth would he pick this assistant?

Yes, the Baton Rouge Advocate means that Kragthorpe, Steve Kragthorpe, the coach most notorious for tearing down in the space of one season what had taken Bobby Petrino years to build at Louisville. As assistant coaching hires go, taking a flyer on one of the biggest head coaching failures of the past decade isn't going to be the most inspiring choice.

Cont'd ...

of the guys that were candidates (both reported and rumored), he would have been my 3rd or 4th choice.

so no he ain't the guy I wanted.

i wasn't a big fan of Gary Crowton, so I do think this will be an improvement.

hell, we won 11 games last year with a dismal offense and nothing that remotely resembled decent QB play.

Navy threw more TD passes than we did last year.
Yes Navy, a triple option team.

so if this guy can get us to the level of having an AVERAGE qb and middle of the pack offense, I'll be fucking ecstatic.

"It's premature at this point," he said, adding this typically Miles-ian gem: "When I know more, I'll be forthcoming. Or I won't be forthcoming, and I'll be honestly deceptive."

 He fits in well in the SEC.

Oppurtunity for Les to discipline the almighty JJ. Probably go over the top with a 1 quarter suspension

Sgt. Don Stone said police are investigating whether Jefferson was a suspect or a victim in the incident which occurred between 1:30 a.m.-2 a.m. at Shady's, a bar south of LSU's campus.
Stone said four people went to the hospital after the fight, but Jefferson was not among them. He said other unidentified LSU players were involved but police were still investigating.
LSU sports information director Michael Bonnette said the school has no comment and is still gathering information on the incident.
"Coach (Les) Miles is aware of what happened and he's doing the best he can to get more information," Bonnette said.
LSU conducted its second scrimmage of fall practice Thursday and players had no practices Friday. They are scheduled to return to the practice field Saturday.

RANK HEARSAY ALERT:

On the rant a guys says it went down like this: bunch of Tiggers milling in the parking lot outside Shady's. Guy in truck can't get out of parking lot. Honks horn. Players feel disrespected by truck guy. Possible racial overtones of subsequent conversation. Guy pulled out of truck, and beaten like a ginger step-child. Guy protected from beating, only to have JJ and a few others beat him some more.

Other guys calling B.S. Guy claims to have his friend who has beaten sitting next to him and giving straight dope. Guy with story is new-ish poster. 60 billion post guys calling B.S., cop mentioned nothing about plunger rape, just nobody in ambulance or hospitalized.

I can say my friend's bi-racial kid had his car trashed and almost totaled for the crime of being Obama flavored and forgetting about his mom's liberal bumper stickers, so... Who. freaking. Knows. Race issues not solved in Red Stick, I do know that.

Dammit...can't the Marines kick the football players in the head instead? They have a reputation to uphold!

Several people who claim to have witnessed the incident tell 9NEWS that a young man driving a truck blew his horn to get a group of people blocking the driveway to move. That's when they say a group of people pulled the driver out of the truck and began beating him. When a friend of the driver, a Marine who had just returned from training, ran to assist the driver, he was also beaten and thrown to the ground. Five people who claim to have witnessed the incident say LSU quarterback Jordan Jefferson then kicked the Marine in the head.

I was in school when [player A] played linebacker for the Buckeyes. Let me just say that allegations of personal violence, including gross bodily harm, by players on other teams, have to go a long way before reaching what I personally observed being visited by [player A] on other human beings.

Kettle, pot, etc.

Why do you hate our Marines?
