Les Miles (grass eater)

oh i've seen them all. They are hilarious. stuffs always funnier when it's happening to the "other guy."

You know what will be even funnier than the clock management skills?

Watching Lester follow D-Rod at a program vs. Nick Saban in a recruiting hotbed.

This has disaster all over it, and I can't wait.

do they expect Les to be any good? because I don't remember Nick Saban building Michigan into a power from nothing and then handing over the keys.

Bingo. UM fans thinking they're getting the LSU Les Miles should realize they're more likely to get the Oklahoma State Les Miles:

4-7 (no bowl)
8-5 (win in the Houston Bowl--yes, that apparently was a real bowl game)
9-4 (loss in the Cotton Bowl)
7-5 (blowout loss to Ohio St. in the Alamo Bowl)

So out of four seasons, there are three mediocre seasons and one bad season, and only one bowl win.

I think Miles will be there for the full contract and will have them respectable in 3 years if not sooner.
I tend to agree. Of course, respectable has been totally redefined by the hilljack they just fired, so I'm thinking Lllllloyd Carr 2004-2007 is what they're gonna get.

The man is a mediocre coach who fell into a great situation in Baton Rouge. He rode Saban's teams to a terrific first three years (and still nearly [censored]ed up an uber-talented 2007 NC team), then fell off considerably. He had several near escapes against a decent, not overly difficult, schedule this year...but still lost to the two best teams he played.

There's a reason he was on the hotseat big-time coming into this year and was something of a coaching punchline. He had pretty good teams in 2008-09 and still lost 5 and 4 games respectively. Much because of now-legendary coaching blunders. Should have lost to a thoroughly mediocre Tennessee team this year for the same reason except he was out "d'oh'd!" by Dooley.

I think, if he is the guy, he'll spare them the absolute embarrassment they've suffered under product rodriguez for three years, but he'll frustrate the hell out of them just as much. In short, I think he'll have a couple of years getting his footing, then a bunch of 9-4, 8-5 with maybe an occasional 11-2 type year. That's assuming he's up for the rebuilding job ahead of him.

I agree. At best, he'll turn UM into the bolded above, which is another way of saying UM will be just like another Wisconsin, Iowa, and Penn St.
