Les Miles (grass eater)

And here, perhaps, is the real reason he didn't end up in Ann Arbor, or even seem to give it serious consideration. I don't think a Big 10 school is ready to cross that financial threshold yet.

With out a doubt, this was at least part of it. He intentionally wanted to wait until after the season to "talk" to Michigan. His old contract gauranteed BIG money if he won the SEC and/or the BCS title. So why not wait and see what LSU is gonna pay before possibly burning that bridge.

Les talks about Perrilloux, and states that he might make an appearance on stage the night before thir spring game.

Kid Rock and Sara Evans headline a concert at Tiger Stadium on the Friday night before the spring football game. Miles says he'll join Evans in a song on stage.

"I certainly have great enthusiasm for this event," says Miles.

"I'm just not certain that I'm up to the ability to sing. So I promise you that I will participate as I can."

Miles says he won't be deterred by "good taste" or "lack of talent."

Les's new boss is the guy that was Duke's AD during the mess with the lacrosse team.

LSU hires Duke's Alleva as athletic director

BATON ROUGE, La. -- Joe Alleva is leaving Duke to become LSU's athletic director.

Alleva will replace Skip Bertman, retiring in June.

The 54-year-old Alleva has led Duke's 26 sports programs since 1998 and received a contract extension last year. Under his leadership, the Blue Devils teams won six national championships and 44 Atlantic Coast Conference titles.

He oversaw Duke's athletic department during the lacrosse team rape allegations in 2006, and recently hired David Cutcliffe as football coach.

THE PRESIDENT: Good to see you all. Welcome. Go Tigers! (Applause.) Sit down.
Please sit down. Thanks for coming. So I met some of these men in 2004 -- they
feel pretty comfortable they were going to be back here. Some of them weren't so
sure I was going to be back here. (Laughter.) It's good to welcome you back. Proud
you're here. Nothing like being called, "National Champs." (Applause.) LSU has the
honor of being the first school to win two BCS titles. This year there is no split. (Applause.)

Another season another comment by Miles to stir things up a bit :)

2theadvocate.com | LSU Sports | Miles' Alabama comment causes stir — Baton Rouge, LA

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — LSU’s Les Miles will be in the first group of coaches Wednesday to meet with reporters during SEC Football Media Days. Sunday, he probably ensured that he will be a prime topic of conversation.

Speaking to a crowd of more than 500 LSU fans in a Tiger Tour stop at the Hilton Riverside hotel in New Orleans, Miles made an offhand comment regarding LSU’s victory over Alabama last season.

Miles’ Tigers beat the Crimson Tide, coached last season for the first time by former LSU coach Nick Saban, 41-34 in Tuscaloosa. The Tigers went on to win the BCS national championship.

According to The Times-Picayune of New Orleans, Miles cautioned LSU fans “not to make too much of that game, as it seems like a lot of teams in Louisiana beat that team.”

Miles’ reference was to Alabama’s 21-14 loss to Louisiana-Monroe last year, two weeks after falling to LSU. The defeats were part of a four-game losing streak to end the regular season for the Crimson Tide, which finished 7-6 after an Independence Bowl victory over Colorado.

Miles’ comment was already the talk of local sports radio in Birmingham, two days in advance of his appearance with center Brett Helms and defensive end Tyson Jackson at SEC media days in suburban Hoover.

Saban and Alabama players will make their appearance at media days Thursday. Alabama plays at LSU on Nov. 8 this season.

Generally, I would frown on that sort of antagonistic comment,

before last year, I was the same way.
But I truly believe that him mouthing off helped us in the polls. After bashing USC's route to get to the title game, there was almost NO WAY the voters wouldn't let us in (if it was close) so he could put his money where is mouth is.
Plus that "undefeated in regulation" line which everyone (myself included) thought was pretty dumb, ended up being repeated by all the talking head as a reason we belonged in the game.

A possible coaching change to the staff prior to LSU's bowl game?

This time it's a non-denial, and no mention of a "damn fine football team".

Have a great day.

Chavis to join LSU staff? Miles won't confirm report

ATLANTA (AP) -- LSU coach Les Miles said Monday it was premature to discuss possible changes on his coaching staff before Wednesday night's Chick-fil-A Bowl against Georgia Tech.

"Right now the only thing we are focused on is getting ready to play Georgia Tech in the Chick-fil-A Bowl and I don't want to do anything to take away from the opportunity our team has here in Atlanta," Miles said.

"We have a chance to win our eighth game and finish the season on a positive note and that's our focus.

"I will not make any additional comments regarding my staff until we return to Baton Rouge."

LSU released the written statement from Miles after a report on ESPN's Web site, citing people who refused to be identified, said former Tennessee defensive coordinator John Chavis had agreed to become the Tigers' new defensive coordinator.

LSU football coach says he'll Twitter during games
by Chris Matyszczyk

Les Miles, head football coach at Louisiana State University, has a lot to say during games.
With his baseball cap squeezed tightly around his head, he shouts at players, referees and, who knows, the fates themselves.
However, it appears that he doesn't feel he says enough. Or, perhaps, that he isn't heard enough. For Miles has now decided he needs to Twitter.
Oh, not merely to tell his fellow coaches, boosters and the rest of Louisiana's finest that he's just had a tuna sandwich. No, Miles intends to Twitter before and after games. And during half-time.
Recently, legendary NBA Twitterer Carlos Villanueva of the Milwaukee Bucks was reprimanded by his coach, Scott Skiles, for a half-time tweet or two.
However, Miles thinks Twitter offers him a new way to communicate. Well, let's call it strategic communication. Otherwise known as recruiting.
Strangely, Miles told USA Today that he believes this will be a two-way conversation: "Absolutely, it's for recruiting purposes. It allows us to communicate, to those people that subscribe, blasts of information...It's also an opportunity for those prospects that subscribe to communicate to us."
So how many tweets during half time will read: "Get the quarterback out of there," or "Run the ball more, moron." And how many will read: "Fifty grand and you got my boy."
That's the lovely thing about Twitter. Endless possibilities.
And twitter hits a new low.
