#6 is a reference to the number of championships MJ won. It does little to separate him... but that's hardly what he would want anyway.

LeBron once thought #23 should be retired league wide, and I'd agree with that.
When you think of the number 23...you think of Jordan. LeBron needs his own number for his own identity.
He has become a champion wearing #6. That should be his legacy, that's the number people should remember him by. IMO

I thought I saw somewhere when he chose #6 it was for a different basketball player, maybe Dr. J (and a quick google search shows that may be the case). It may have been around that same time when he mentioned retiring #23.

Now it's come full circle.
When LeBron James left Cleveland for Miami four years ago, some very creative YouTube user remade the infamous video of Hulk Hogan turning heel and joining the NWO to feature James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, David Stern and the Cavaliers mascot.
Today, we bring you the sequel. Lebron, in a WWE ring, turning on Wade and Bosh.
Sadly, the only thing that's missing is Jim Ross on the call.

OK, I never saw it. I was in Jamaica the 1st 2 weeks of this month. I just looked, there were 43 pages of posts during that period. Needless to say I didn't read them.

LeBron James visited Lexington, Kentucky over the weekend to watch is son compete in some AAU basketball. And by the looks of things, the game’s greatest living player tried his best to act like nothing more than a typical father excited to see his kid play.
The highlight comes at the 18-second mark, when LeBron James Jr. takes the ball on a dribble drive, and gets all the way to the basket for the and-1 finish. LeBron himself couldn’t have been happier, and at the fourth grade level, that’s about the best thing he could have hoped to see.

Yeah, lol. He has a claim to be in the top-5. Or "greatest active"...arguably, as long as Kobe is around. But greatest living is laughable. Jordan, Magic, Bird, etc all wave "hi"...

yeah...I hate Lebron as much as the next guy (probably a little more now that he's back :P). I have no problem saying best active. But come on. I'm willing to bet a lot of the hate that goes his way is because of people saying dumb stuff like that.

As much as I hate Kobe Bryant, I think an argument can be made that he's above LeBron for greatest active, depending on your criteria...

Man, that's like having the argument of who was better Magic or Bird. You can make the argument, but it's nowhere near a definitive case. Kobe is a much better creating his own scoring opportunities and is probably, actually, a better defender. Lebron certainly doesn't have a problem scoring, but he is a better facilitator, and I think his all around game is better. Who would you take to build a championship team around? Take your pick.

The argument is certainly there for LeBron. Obviously, we're talking about two different positions - which I find generally pointless - but looking at the numbers, LeBron has a case.
Ahead of Kobe in all traditional statistics: PPG, RPG, APG. Even if you dip into the advanced stuff, LeBron leads in PER and WS/48 but is behind slightly in WS.

If your criteria is current best I think Lebron is better than Kobe. 3+ years ago that might have been different.
I would be interested to see what the answer would be if you could honestly ask NBA coaches and GM's which player they would most like to have on their team if they wanted to win a title this season. I'm guessing Lebron would get over 90% of the vote.
