Lebron James (Los Angeles Lakers)

If Wade opts out you know that everyone is staying. That's the key. At his age, and his current state, to leave $40 million guaranteed on the table to take less money...you know that they have the intention to stay with Miami.

If Wade opts in then this whole thing is a toss-up and LeBron and Anthony are probably going to be linked together.

So, what are even his potential landing spots? I still contend that the Cavs are an EXTREME longshot, because despite the talent on the roster and what will be added Thursday, it's unproven talent. I don't see him joining a team that is no guarantee to be title ready as he enters the backside of his prime years. I've read that Houston is ready to back up the Brinks truck for him, and a Howard-LeBron-Harden trio would be formidable, and a definite upgrade from Miami.

Chicago, Houston, Phoenix, Atlanta, Miami.

Houston, for the reasons you mentioned. Chicago if they can get Carmelo. Or re-sign with Miami for one year. Agreed Cleveland is a longshot.

I agree, only Chuck Booms thinks he's coming back to Cleveland. If he decides to link up with Melo, it has to be somewhere he can do that. Otherwise, he'll find another Big 1 or 2 and go there.

So, I'd think Houston would have to be the favorite if he leaves Miami. However, signing with them will just tarnish his legacy as he'll be widely viewed as a guy who has to leap from team to team and join other "elite" players to accumulate titles. He WANTS to be Jordan. I don't think that can come close to happening unless he sticks with Miami and takes part in a retooling of their roster. Bouncing from city to city cheapens any titles he gets.

He's a relationship dude... and I don't see any other relationships out there that mean anything to him... Yes, him and Carmello are tight.. but I just don't see Carmello as a team player... and there are but a few teams that can handle two max contracts... ala Cavs

His core relationships... and Savannahs core relationships... are still in Akron Ohio.. the James' compound is alive and well and EXPANDING in Akron Ohio.. he didn't customize that for resale... that compound is for the James family and children... his sponsored events are in Akron

but the Houston scenario makes a lot of sense.. but I don't see a relationship piece to it
I'd rather live in Akron than Houston

Cleveland fans will never accept his coming back to the Cavs...

I disagree. Winning cures all in a large majority of fans' eyes. Cleveland fans are starving for any kind of success, and LeBron returning makes the Cavs instant contenders. The first time he set foot on the floor in Cleveland in a Cavs uniform, the cheers would be enormous. Does that make us hypocrites? Of course. But if he's leading them to 60 wins and the postseason again, he'll be a hero. Of course, the championship expectations would be immediate, and I could see them getting impatient pretty quickly of they aren't winning them. I don't like the bastard, and I never will view him the same as I did before he showed his ass on e!spn 4 years ago, but returning to Cleveland to win a title is a step towards redemption.

Still, don't see it happening. Howevah, I will say, he had until July 1 to opt out. The timing a few days before the draft is interesting.

I'm actually hoping he returns to the Cavs to see that reaction. It would be fascinating. First game - would they cheer him? Boo him? Turn their backs while the team is playing? Sit on their hands?
He would get an enormous positive reaction with probably a small smattering of boos from the diehards still jaded from 2010. If I were there, I'd probably sit on my hands.
