Lebron James (Los Angeles Lakers)

Stopped by to visit the head-butting, and it prompted me to have a serious thought. Who, JAX would you put on the list to have actually outscored Lebron by this point in their careers if they had gone pro directly from high school. Don't misunderstand me. I am not trying to add gas to the Lebron love-hatefest. But thinking objectively who would have done it. Kareem; Wilt; ???.

It took LeBron 726 games to reach 20,000 points.

It took Wilt 499.

Jordan, Oscar Robertson, Kareem, Elgin Baylor, Iverson and Jerry West all did it in fewer games too. (And it took Shaq one more game at 727.)

Good to see you did the research on this one. I would predict Wilt was the one guy that would have done it at a younger age. He was such a fantastic athlete in a time when most BB players weren't, and was way bigger than most anybody he played against most nights. I don't know much about Baylors early career. All of the guards I have my doubts. The massive development that occurres in those 2-3 years after high school cannot be discounted. My guess would be that Jordan's career path would be similar to Kobe's had he come out straight from HS.

Point being that it is somewhat of a inconsequential record in my eyes. Is Lebron probably the best(most successful) player to come out straight from high school. Likely, although Moses Malone might have something to say on the subject. Youngest age to 20,000 only demonstrates this. I think virtually every name previously mentioned are better pure scorers than Lebron, and have been more prolific in the same sized window. Lebron just did it straight from SVSM.
