Lebron James (Los Angeles Lakers)

Just got my SI with the LeBitch cover. Sportsman of the Year.

Ripped off the cover and threw it away.

Those new commercials with him and his family (or actor family, whatever) and him at the barber shop are so blatant in their attempt to make him seem like a likable person.

Some sponsor is spending a lot of money on a media blitz to make him more marketable after his move to Miami made him such an unlikeable douchebag villain.

The SI cover of which you just now made me aware is obviously a part of that blitz. Nike or whoever drops a million bucks in SI's pocket and asks them to write a fluff piece about what a great sportsman LeBron is and they're not going to say no.

As time passes people will forget what an unmitigated ass LeBron's move to Miami made him look like and with this new blatant campaign (notice they waited a few years to start the forgetting process, probably has something to do with the championship as well) there are going to be a lot of people won over.

I don't think NE Ohio will ever forget, though.

I'm from columbus, I was as mad as anyone when he left, but since then...I've moved on.
The Cavs couldnt get any real talent signed even with Lebron and they won too many games to get high draft picks.
Lebron has basically apologized since and realizes how much the trade made him look like an ass..
At the end of the day he's still the most talented player in the world...and he roots for the Buckeyes.

That commercial was full of people from Akron. May have seemed like extras to most, but they all are people we knew, including his kids and their mother. I think he's realized that the only people who give a shit about him are the people in Miami and people in Akron, so he's trying to further endear himself to those people. I can't dislike him personally, but I don't like the personality he created. The "yes men" in his circle are to blame.

As long as u were alive when he left, lebron could be dead and gone for 15 years and you will still be upset about it...i grew up near cleveland so like many i have moved on...but that will never mean that i have respect for him because he won a ring or is a "good" father...i will always remember how he left Cleveland and the sweet hour long send off on national tv...im not wishing death on the man but do i hope that he breaks both ankles and one of his kids turns out to be rashard lewis's? Sure why not

He'll be endeared to his family in Akron, but not the city or anyone
Else in it. They felt more betrayed than many in Cleveland.

I have said this once, I will do so again. He may "cheer" for the Buckeyes,
But he himself, is not a Buckeye. I could give two shits if you disagree either.
His bandwagon fandom is well known.

He quit on not only his team and city, but pretty much the State of Ohio.

Still a biatch. Fuck em'.

What makes you say that? I'm not a native, but frequent with friends for football games. I've had lifelong family and church "family" that have been appart of the community since as long as I can remember. All whom seem to agree with me on this.

edit: I'll take it as that meaning you also agreed with the unbolded. In which case, greenies for you sir.

He lost a lot of his fanbase in Akron, but he's maintained a shitload of it too. The guy still pumps a lot of money into the city.

I'm not saying the move to Miami hasn't made a difference, because it did, but I'd say 50% of Akronites are still strongly in his corner. That is a far cry from 100% when he was in Cleveland and "The King" of Ohio.

His luster has really worn off nationally even with this push however. He'll never get what he had back...even if he came back to Cleveland.

and I think he's totally accepted that, and why he's now probably playing better than ever. He doesn't seem to worry about pleasing every person in the world anymore.

Still a terrible way to leave a team though. He'll never be able to shake that

He can apologize all he wants and continue his bike ride in Akron and whatever other shit he wants to pull to try and reclaim his image.

I love how he continues to say that The Decision was simply about raising money for the Boys and Girls clubs as well. What a crock of shit.

The fact is that he made a calculated move to leave Cleveland and made a decision to rip the fans hearts out while he did it. He knew years before that he was leaving and held the Cavs hostage in order to get what he wanted. He kept his decision a secret for 3 years so that the Cavs couldn't prepare for his departure. I also love how people say that he couldn't win in Cleveland because they couldn't put talent around him. Horse shit. LeBron had no interest in winning a title for the Cavs and their fans. He wanted to go and play with Diane and Rupaul in South Beach. He fucking QUIT on national TV in the playoffs in order to get the season over with so he could move on. It's funny how in Miami he can all of a sudden turn it on and take a game over while Diane and Rupaul watch him.

He held a nationally televised show so that he could take a dump on the entire fan base. As far as this Cavs fan is concerned he is never welcome in the city of Cleveland again.
