maybe its just me, but I like to support my players no matter what. Even if they had a bad game one day. Its just a sport, why hate someone over it? Sports should be something to enjoy, and to occasionally get angry over (ie like me when my pats choked last night), not something to hold a grudge over. Maybe I'm being naive, or maybe I'm living in a different context due to the success the pro teams I support have experienced, but thats how I feel about it. Like with jlb, lets agree to disagree

ok agree to disagree...and when your boston teams go on a 47 year championship drought then we can talk again

Red, you asked why cavs fans could legitimately dislike him. The decision turned off most sports fans regardless of rooting interests, let alone the cleveland fans it was intended to haunt.

Beyond that, the olympic staff did not want lebron in beijing after his behavior in 04, 06 in world events and consistent antics in cleveland.

They sat him down and made it crystal clear that his petulance and interference (including his entourage) would not be tolerated and he had to shape up or be left at home. He decided to straighten up, but much to the Cavalier's disappointment, that shift in behavior did not continue when he returned to cleveland.

Lebron sells ratings, but has been widely disliked behind the scenes for some time. The decision merely publicized what nba folks had known for a long time.

I can understand dislike, but burning, redhot hatred? As in hoping he breaks his neck and is paralyzed for the rest of his life (yes, I saw that). That is what I don't understand.

y0yo, like I said, I understand that I am in a different context then you are, so that might influence it.

Post your personal email so we can verify you're not one in the same

LOL haha nah I'm good. However, since wolverinemike is a michigan fan, I will go on the record to say that I love Jim Tressel. No true Michigan fan could post that without throwing up in his mouth and erasing it. Cheers

please. Red-hot hatred and anguish was what he was going for with that event name.

Does it excuse those responses? No, but he aimed directly for them, and has continued to do so with his comments since. It is quite clear he has embraced the role of the villain at this point.

This is why-Non-Clevelanders need to shut their trap in regards to this entire ordeal. You didn't see his actions first hand in the city, and you can't comprehend why "The Decision" would invoke anger.

Read up on:

The Drive
The Shot
The Choke

Whatever else I'm missing.

Cleveland has a history of awful connotations with "The" in front of it. When LeBron named his show "The Decision" most Clevelanders just couldn't believe he would destroy the city with another "The".

But he did. He knowingly added to "The" list like an absolute idiot would do....

aaaaahhh. Thank you for explaining that, you're the first person I know to have clarified that. Well, now I see at least in part why. And yes, HOLY [Marky May] I am surprised you guys are still seething about it.

Was that not a graceful exit? I didn't trash anyone, I didn't call anyone a name, and I didn't make fun of Cleveland or its fans in any way. All I said was "we'll agree to disagree" and "lets leave it at that." I'd be more than willing to continue if I didn't have physics, calc, and psych exams back to back =(
