Learfield Directors' Cup (Formerly Sears Directors' Cup)

Well, it looks like with tennis, maybe golf, and maybe crew, there could (?) be enough points to hold on....probably not, given other school's finishes. However, here's hoping. Like the way baseball finished up (9 game win streak, swept Wolverweenies), so there's hope in the future. Go Bucks! Foresee top 5 finish.

My wife and I are annual donors to OSU Rowing...we're not going to get much from rowing. HeeHee

The program right now maxes out at about No. 5-7 in the country. Texas is very much running the show right now (in rowing).

We picked up some points (25?) for men's volleyball. which would put as at 973 at the moment with the possibility of some more from men's golf and women's rowing. Bad year for Lacrosse to go into the dumpster. Stanford is ranked 3 in baseball, 6 in men's golf They made the semi's for women's golf, and are in the super regional for softball, so they're picking up points in both sports. My gut tells me they'll win it.

Well, Gene Smith made a move last year on baseball, and this year for lax. Tennis is always chill, and golf is resurging?. Not certain where track & field is, looks like had some individual champs, but no team points. Despite all the great stories, softball isn't up there in regionals/super regs etc. Come on Gene, get some NIL $ to these other sports. Go ALL Bucks teams...

not certain mens golf team will make the cut. they were at 20/30 with the final round to go. 22 over par, but with 5/6 players over two rounds is still some pretty fine golfing. Competition in this sport is extremely tight.

Stanford wins the women's rowing championship (100 points), and Ohio State was 12th (don't know how many points we'll get). Stanford makes the softball world series, but Texas got bounced out in the super regional. Stanford will also have a good shot to make it to Omaha in baseball since they're ranked 3 going into the tournament.

So Stanford gets 100, Texas gets 80 and Ohio State gets 54 (12th) for Rowing.

I was correct in my prediction for the Buckeyes rowing finishing spot (which makes me both happy and sad, since we're a shell of a championship rowing program right now).

I always look at Texas and The School Up North's finishing positions in the Directors' Cup (not so much Stanford) and see if the Buckeyes finish ahead of them in the final standings. We haven't had much luck finishing ahead of both of them since 2016-17 (probably will beat TSUN this year).

Given the points we picked up in tennis, volleyball and rowing, I think that Stanford (probably) and Texas (50-50) will be the only schools that can overtake us. So, no worse than third and maybe second this year. Sucks that Lacrosse and men's basketball picked this year to crawl into a hole because even a moderate amount from each might have been enough to keep Stanford from catching us.

Just in relation to both lacrosse programs, I'm sure the administration didn't want to replace both the men's and women's coaches in the same season. So it was probably eyeing the women's coach this year and then spend the next year looking at candidates for the men's program.

Come on, Golf. I know it's not a real sport, but if we can get points for it, I'm on board.

The program was going to get points regardless if it lost this morning, but more points if it won (which the Buckeyes did).

Football pairing Monday afternoon too (Ohio State - Alabama - Georgia).

I'm just happy the Buckeyes get to play more golf. And more golf is always a good thing.

Guess that's why the sports are split up with 10 for men and 10 for women. Takes a solid school to score points on both sides of the gender. Stanford gets its pick of 'other sports'. Their recruiting pitch is 'come play for us. can't promise you a ring, but you'll have a Stanford degree forever'. Works all the time. PS, Stanford football is at the bottom of the sports totem in Palo Alto.

So, Stanford made it to the semis in softball before getting knocked out. In baseball, they're playing Tejas in the super regional. I don't think Tejas can catch us, so gotta throw up in the mouth and root for them to knock out the snowflakes. I have no idea where the points stand right now, but my gut still tells me that Stanford wins, and we come in second.
