Cleveland (Ohio) St. Ignatius 2019 linebacker
Tommy Eichenberg last visited Ohio State for the Buckeyes’ spring game. He committed to Boston College in late June. But Eichenberg landed a scholarship offer from the Buckeyes in September.
“I talked to them today and they offered,” Eichenberg said the day the Buckeyes offered. “I talked to coach (Mark) Pantoni and coach (Bill) Davis. They said I’m having a great season and they didn’t want to wait any longer. I was obviously excited. They said they don’t want to pressure me, but they want me to visit.”
Not too long after the Ohio State offer Eichenberg landed a scholarship offer from Michigan. But even with those two offers Eichenberg remained a Boston College commitment. But that is no longer the case. Eichenberg has announced he has decommitted from Boston College. Eichenberg made his announcement on his Twitter account.
Eichenberg’s older brother Liam is a starting offensive lineman at Notre Dame.
Bucknuts attended one of Eichenberg’s practices on in mid-October and interviewed Wildcat’s star who the Buckeyes are recruiting as a middle linebacker. The Buckeyes at one time had a commitment from a middle linebacker, but that changed in late September when
Kane Patterson decommitted from Ohio State and later committed to Clemson.
In October Eichenberg talked about many topics with Bucknuts including Ohio State and Michigan.
Eichenberg had a spectacular senior season in leading St. Ignatius to the state playoffs and an 8-3 final record.
The 6-foot-3 and 225-pound Eichenberg is a 4-star prospect in the 247Sports Composite. He is the country’s No. 360 overall prospect, the No. 19 inside linebacker, and the No. 11 prospect in Ohio.
