LB Storm Klein (Official Thread)

I got the chance to watch Storm play tonight as Licking Valley traveled to North Canton to face Hoover. LV lost 40-45 in a thriller of a game, coming up just short after trailing 39-7 at halftime. My brother and I came away very impressed with Storm. He will definitely have the size to be a Big10 LB. I had to remind my brother that he's still only a junior, so it will be exciting to see how much he progresses by this time next year (and once he gets into college).

He played MLB, RB, punter, was on kickoff coverage, and the FG unit. According to our counts, he had 15 tackles (several for loss) and ran for 3 scores, despite having to sit out much of the 3rd quarter with cramps. You could definitely tell that NCH had game-planned around him. Everyone for NCH knew where 32 was before each snap (on both sides of the ball).

I'm not an expert, but I thought he did a good enough job shedding blocks and getting in on tackles. He seemed to play most of the game as a read'n'react LB and he seemed to do fairly well with reading plays and getting to the ball. He was just a half step slow on taking a screen pass back for 6 on one play. I was also happy to see that he was definitely a team player, and was mixing it up very well with all of his teammates. I don't like watching the HS stars who stay separated from their teammates.

Storm says his offer was sent to school so he will not receive it until Monday. He is considering joining his friend Jordan Whiting as a Buckeye commitment.
Considering?? When he asks his girlfriend "Will you marry me?" and she says she is considering it. He will look back at that statement and laugh.

Just say "YES! I WILL!"

Licking Valley is D3 Region 11.

Hoover is D1 region 2.

Bucknuts.com - Will Klein Soon Join Whiting As A 2009 OSU Commitment?

Bucknuts had the news first that Jordan Whiting would commit to OSU as soon as he landed a written offer from the Bucks. So it was no surprise when Whiting announced on Saturday that he is a Buckeye. Storm Klein has said OSU is his big leader. What does Klein say about possibly soon joining Whiting as a Buckeye commitment?

Continued...

"Ohio State is still my big leader," Klein said. "I'm just going with the flow right now. I'm still thinking about (committing to Ohio State). I still have tons of time left. It's just a matter of time. It could be tomorrow, it could be in a few months."

Onslaught sends Valley past Canadian team
By RYAN COOK
Local News Editor

HANOVER ? Licking Valley faced a lot of unknowns Friday night in playing a Canadian team for the first time.

Hamilton (Ont.) Bishop Ryan Catholic scored early and late, but the Panthers posted 52 consecutive points in between for a 52-20 victory at Randy Baughman Stadium.

8-yard touchdown run by junior Storm Klein, who finished with eight runs for 80 yards after missing part of the first quarter. He got the wind knocked out of him on the second play of the game and slightly injured his ribs.

Klein moved the halftime lead to 36-6 with a 19-yard touchdown reception from senior Nick Phillips with 1:22 left.

BEXLEY -- If defense wins championships, then Licking Valley made a statement in its Mid-State League-Ohio Division opener at Bexley on Friday night.

The Panthers knew they had a tough task in containing Lions quarterback Seth White, who accounted for more than 500 yards of total offense in the last two weeks, but he was harassed and hounded all night by Valley's stifling defense in a 31-0 victory.

Storm was a workhorse. Just beating up the D on O and shredding their O on D. Follow?

Know your standout: Valley's Klein sounds off about time on defense, Ohio Stadium
By JOSH HACHAT
Sports Writer

HANOVER -- Licking Valley's Storm Klein isn't putting up the eye-popping rushing stats he did a year ago, but the junior has been just as active.

Klein, who received a verbal offer from Ohio State in the summer, has played full-time defensively, making an impact for a unit that shut out Bexley 31-0 last week. He also has rushed for a team-high seven touchdowns.

The Advocate: What is your best football moment?

Klein: Probably when I was walking down into Ohio Stadium (when Ohio State played Northern Illinois to start last season). That was the first one I got offered to go to.

Advocate: You've played a lot more defense this year. How has that gone?

Klein: It's been fun. They needed me there, so it's been good. I do like hitting people; it's a change. I like it.

Advocate: How do you feel with not getting as many carries as you did last year?

Klein: It's new for me, but I'm taking the wins, so it's all right.
