all this "new" talk about how great shazier is after the penn state has gotten me thinkin...its about a year too late....

after last year everyone should have knew about him....to me the penn state game saturday was just another game for him except we let him blitz a little more...there is talk about how much trouble we have getting to the quarterback, but it seems every time shazier blitzes he gets a sack or a knockdown

ever since last season when he was flying down on punt returns making tackles....they would call his name...and i would think..."hey...thats that freshman, shazier"

and then the penn state game...4 tackles on the goal line stand...15 total...that game showed us all...
A. He's a ball Hawk
B. Most times....he cant be blocked...
C. HE CAN LAY THE WOOD!

we got a big fast guy with a nose for the ball back there at linebacker, and he's been a beast ever since he stepped on campus..

He looked like a CB running the field with that pick 6. Extremely fast for a linebacker. He has been unofficially clocked sub 4.4 40.

He seems to be a guy with the character of a "Mike Doss" and the way he plays his position. One of the best linebackers to play for so far.

New Number Might Stick

Ohio State linebacker Ryan Shazier took another bow yesterday for his tribute-inspired play in Saturday?s 35-23 victory over Penn State. He was named the Big Ten?s co-defensive player of the week.

?It?s a major honor because I?ve been fighting my entire life to be one of the greatest players out there, and I?m going to keep grinding, keep doing what I can to show everybody how good I am,? said Shazier, who also was the Big Ten freshman of the week last year after a stellar game against Penn State.

This time he wore jersey No. 48 instead of his usual No. 10 in honor of his friend Gary Curtis, a manager on his Plantation (Fla.) High School football team who succumbed to muscular dystrophy this past summer. Shazier said he wanted to honor his friend in a meaningful game, which is why he chose the one at Penn State, with coach Urban Meyer?s blessing.

Shazier led the Buckeyes in tackles with 11 and had two sacks. He also intercepted a pass and returned it 17 yards for his first collegiate touchdown to give Ohio State its first lead early in the third quarter.

Shazier might stick with the No. 48 jersey on Saturday against Illinois.

?Everybody says, ?You caught a pick in it, and you ain?t caught a pick all year,? so I don?t know, I?m thinking about it,? Shazier said. ?We?ll find out Saturday.?

He shared yesterday?s Big Ten award with senior defensive back Michael Carter of Minnesota.

Ryan Shazier coming on fast for Ohio State
November, 2, 2012
By Brian Bennett | ESPN.com

Ryan Shazier was playing for more than just himself and his current teammates last weekend at Penn State.

The Ohio State linebacker switched his jersey number to 48 to honor Gary Curtis, his friend and the former manager for Shazier's Plantation (Fla.) High School football team. Curtis, who was bound to a wheelchair but always wore his No. 48 jersey to Plantation games, suffered from muscular dystrophy and died in the spring.

Ryan Shazier is a big reason why Ohio State's defense has improved over the season.

"He was real close to me, and I treated him like a brother," Shazier told ESPN.com. "I talked to him before all my games last year. When he left, it was really important to me just to let people know about that disorder that some people have to go through. He never got to play, and I wanted to play through him."
