My mistake, I wasn't sure how to post the information. See that (1) gem indicating that I'm a prospect, well that couldn't label me any better due to the fact that this is the first forum that I have been a member so a little slack and some help would be a nice jesture.
In fairness, it hasn't been the coaches making this statement. The perception that Mike has been way behind has come from and been perpetuated by the fans. The fact is that in Mike's first year, he was behind a future AA in Matt Wilhelm. He wasn't going to get most of the reps. His second year, he was starting to make progress... unfortunately, a shoulder injury curtailed his developement. But you could see the light starting to come on. The kid was getting to ball carriers with brutal force and he was making plays that helped our defense convert them to turnovers. This year, like Wilhelm did his senior year, Mike got his butt in the films room and studied. Now, his game knowledge has caught up with his physical development. It doesn't necessarily means that he has "beaten" Anthony, as many fans put it. Just that he is ready to step in to the starting role in his own right in a variety of defensive situations and make plays in a consistent basis that great linebackers are capable of making.KillerNut said:I am very surprised by this, considering all indication were that Mike D'A was so far behind. Maybe a lightbulb finally turned on and it all became clear. For me the question was never athleticism but rather the mental side of being the A-1 leader of the defense. I still think it is going to be hard not to try and find a way to get all of your talented LB's on the field, even Kerr who has fallen off the map had got to find a way to get in the game.
