LB Mike D'Andrea (official thread)

CleveBucks

Serenity now
Does anybody else think D'Andrea could have a breakout year this year, similar to Kat's freshman year? The reason I say that is simple. Kat had an unbelievable D-line in front of him, allowing him to basically roam free and do his thing unimpeded. I think this year's D-line should be even better than what Kat had working for him. Plus, I was very impressed with D'Andrea in the spring game. It seems like the game is finally slowing down enough for him to read and react.

Needless to say, I expect big things from D'Andrea this year.

I think he will continue to improve and just might have a "break out" year. We don't blitz the LB's as much as we did when the big kat played, however that D Line should help Mike D... Assumeing he starts, I have to think he will continue to improve each game...

I've been saying all along that D'Andrea will surprise folks this year. Everyone is already penciling in Schegal at MLB next year. Not so fast. Keep in mind that D'Andrea had the best spring of all the LBs, according to the position coach.

Let's hope he does. Think of the competition at the middle spot next season when Schlegal and Kerr are eligible.

I think they'll just make room for everyone. Get everyone to work on their speed and then just see what happens.

I have not seen D'Andrea in action- that I can remember- but from the dimensions and the clockwork he really does sound like a punishing specimen.

I really liked the way D'andrea and Hawk switched up so much in the spring game. One play D'andrea is wide and up, and Hawk was in the inside, then the next play they reversed.

I'm excited about all of the young guys. I'm looking forward to Santonio getting some action. Hopefully the fumbles were just a fluke.

I am a newbie so I had to post this.

This guy has to see the field. Definitely, I felt that not having him at the end of the season had its impact. He does make plays and seems awfully fast. Watching the games on regular TV broadcast doesn't do 6/5's of the field and the players on it justice and I know that he did have his problems shedding blocks at times but to me he seems like an absolute playmaker.

Back to D'A

He has got to see the field too much talent.

I think LB may have too many things as far as responsibilities, calls, and rules for him to play the reactive natural athlete game he shows in films.

Since we are not going to dumb down our D for him. I say put him at DE and tell him he has one responsibility and it can be sumed up in one word: Get'em

I'm going to keep saying what i've been saying. Put him at SAM if Schlagel passes him at MIKE. Carpenter is the only SAM on the entire team right now if the Reggie Smith to DE rumors are true. Lukens is really too small for it, and Kerr doesn't seem natural for it. D'andrea seems a much more natural SAM than MIKE. It puts him outside and lets him use his athleticism in the open field or fill a hole, things he does well. He's not having to call things for the DL and other LB's like he would at MIKE. At DE, he's behind Kudla, Frasier, Richardson, and Patterson (suppose to have slimmed some and will play DE some). I really don't think he'd be ahead of Frost, who I expect big things from this year or next. At SAM he's automatically in the 2 deep and he doesn't have to learn a new position really. If you don't put him at SAM, I really don't know who backs up Carpenter.

DK: At the SAM, he still has to face the blocking TE. I hope he learns to come off blocks better...but, he was making improvements in that area before he got hurt. I would keep him at MLB even if Schlegel wins the starting job, because he all saw at Michigan what happens when we don't have a solid MLB (should Schegel get hurt). D'Andrea would provide crucial continunity at MLB.

d'andrea has true speed. He proved it when , he got a chance and caught a few rb's from behind. That pagac stuff still bothers me, he should not have played that much of the time. Tressel played his buddies son .:!

He might be a nice secret at DE. It seems like that schlegel is locked in a MB.
