When you watched Malik the freak play there was just an elite level athleticism that jumped off the screen to me. These few clips have that.

Finally got a chance to watch his entire film and only had watched a few clips before...wow, incredible athlete. Excels at getting into his drops in coverage and sinking into the right areas, freakish sideline-to-sideline speed, and arrives with bad intentions. Certainly athletic enough to play WR or maybe the H role, but is definitely a LB imo. With all the talk about Mitchell potentially being a liability in coverage (not conceding that yet at all), I think Pope is a great insurance policy on that worry in this class if that turns out to be the case...Pope is big enough to play in the middle down the road and can stay on the field in Nickel packages and third down, and excel in coverage. I think Pope is the perfect compliment to Mitchell and Gant in this class and if that turns out being our 3 LB's in this class, I would be ecstatic.

^^^THIS^^^

Dude is just a flat out athlete. I commented earlier about any similarities to Jerome Baker, who like Pope, played offense too. And throw in D Lee too..........just great athletes that can come into the right system, with excellent coaching, and maximize that talent. There is no doubt to me that players like Pope recognize that. And they want some.

With regards to film and Malik comparison....I just watched the 2-3 clips from the Tweet on top of his page and the dude looks like Malik did in terms of that.............WOW, THIS DUDE IS CRAZY ATHLETE first impression to me that seems obvious. To be fair though, I'm not sure I have ever seen it quite like Malik but Pope's film has a bit of that. Some guys just have another gear, another level though and Pope appears to be like that to me.

I honestly think this maybe a mistake. I trust the staff but still I feel uncomfortable passing while chasing a kid in USC's backyard. Taking four seems like the smart play with there being a chance at losing atleast two if not three next year. I don't think this is a case of the kid being overrated, the kids film is great.

I don't like this one bit. Making a kid work for an offer is one thing. Making a kid wait to see if a 'better' kid is going to take his spot or not is pretty bad. At least when he has to work for an offer, the ball is in their court and he knows he can work for the offer. I feel like we're going to loose him.

I think there may also be some "let's improve the scores a bit" going on for him... I've read that he's re-doing the SAT in August.

The kid really wanting to be a Buckeye doesn't mean the coaches have no choice in the matter any more. They have a limited number of scholarships to give, so rather than be Harbaugh and accept everything and kick them out later, we have this.

I love Pope, but he needs to sure up the grades for admissions and that is well documented, even from him. Aside from that, we have two outstanding commits at the position and have to be selective on the last spot. If you don't have Gant and Mitchell in, maybe Pope is a "TAKE" regardless. But with them on board and a number of big fish left, I am pretty sure not deferring to the staff's judgment on the 3rd spot at LB is tomfoolery.
