Trinity used some good old-fashioned defense to beat Cincinnati St. Xavier 17-6 in front of an estimated 12,500 fans at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium. The Bombers are No. 20 in USA Today's Super 25 and No. 4 in another national ranking.

Our defense was phenomenal," said senior linebacker Jordan Whiting, who did his part with a key block on special teams and a 34-yard run on a fake punt that led to Trinity's first points.

Trinity's Whiting follows his dream

"I knew what I wanted to happen," Jordan Whiting, ranked the preseason No. 64 player nationally by Rivals.com, said of his career. "It was only a matter of me working hard and trying to get there." By Sam Upshaw Jr., The C-J

By Jody Demling ? [email protected] ? October 2, 2008

A few months before he enrolled at Trinity High School, Jordan Whiting made a late-night visit with his parents to the all-boys Catholic school in St. Matthews.
Whiting recalls it was about midnight when his parents pulled up at the school while its new football stadium was under construction.
A budding middle school star, Whiting wanted to check out the new digs.
"We saw a little hole in the fence and went out onto the field right when it was being built," Whiting said. "I remember imagining just what it could all be like."
More than four years later, Whiting said his career with the Shamrocks has been "almost like a dream."
Whiting, who made his first varsity tackle in the state championship game his freshman year, has committed to Ohio State and is considered the top college prospect in Kentucky. He has helped the Shamrocks to three straight state championships.
The 6-foot-2, 226-pound linebacker is the leader of one of the best defensive units in school history.
"I knew what could happen, and I knew what I wanted to happen," Whiting said about his career. "It was only a matter of me working hard and trying to get there.
"But it's not just about Jordan Whiting. I want what is best for the team and what is best for Trinity High School, both as an athlete and a student."

Another Ohio State verbal also is looking to close out his career with a state championship. Jordan Whiting (Louisville Trinity HS) posted 10.5 tackles in a 37-13 victory over Ballard. Teammate and Central Michigan commitment Tim Phillips rushed for 134 yards and one touchdown. With his performance Phillips passed 1,000 yards on the season and has over 4,000 yards during his career. Whiting and Phillips look to win back-to-back Class 6A titles in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

Word has it that Jordan will get his first chance to be in the back field this week playing fullback, has not done it since his freshman year. Something the Shamrocks were holding on to to surprise their opponent this week. If the Shamrocks win and Male (Justin Green) wins, then we have both 09 commits playing for the state championship against each other.

Class 6A: Trinity 48, Simon Kenton 0

The Associated Press LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Louisville Trinity shellacked Simon Kenton on Saturday night to win its state-best 19th high school football title.

The Shamrocks scored on each of their first six possession on the way to a 48-0 win over the Pioneers in the Kentucky High School Athletic Association Class 6A final in front of 11,556 fans at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.

It was the fourth straight state title for Trinity, and its seventh in eight years.

"It's awesome to go out with a shutout," said senior linebacker Jordan Whiting, who led Trinity with 5.5 tackles. "I'm speechless. I don't know what to say,"

Jordan only played the 1st half and about 2 series in the 3rd qtr. His head coach is a class act, could have very easily kept the starters in with the score 48-0, but pulled them all mid-way in the 3rd qtr. He and another teammate made history last night, as being the 1st kids in Ky. to win 4 straight championship rings since his freshman year.

JORDAN WHITING - LINEBACKER/TRINITY

December 25, 2008

The 6-foot-1, 235-pound Whiting made his first career tackle in the 2005 state championship game as a freshman, and it was a sign of things to come.
Whiting became one of the most accomplished Trinity defenders ever -- starting at linebacker for two seasons, leading the team in tackles for three seasons and being a part of four state title teams.
"He's one of many that have come through here and left their legacy," coach Bob Beatty said.
As a senior, Whiting had 1021/2 tackles. Eighteen of those were for losses, including five sacks. He made 18 tackles in the state semifinal win over St. Xavier.

Good to see both Jordan and Justin Green doing well, in their senior year.
