LB Jordan Whiting (transfer to Louisville)

Whiting, who started wrestling five years ago at 134 pounds and now competes at 225 pounds

per a post up the page. Im guessing the 285 is a typo.

:osu:

285 is the maximum weight limit. Jordan is probably wrestling a lot of guys 50 pounds heavier than him. As another example, I believe that Goebbel has been wrestling at 275 as a heavyweight in his state.

Any ideas what weight he's wrestling at? I believe 285 is heavyweight, so it has a much larger range. I'd think for a LB prospect, he wouldn't be anywhere near that #

Right - in KY 285 is the max on openweight or heavyweight. If Jordan is at 225, than he is wrestling kids 50 lbs heavier, and winning. Pretty amazing really.

KY Weight Classes

B) Weight Classes, Weigh-ins and Records
1) Competition shall be divided into weight classes for regular and
postseason competition as follows: 103, 112, 119, 125, 130,

That is nuts he is wresting that much higher... think he would cut 5 lbs and wrestle in the 215 range. A tremendous feat for him to be as damn good as he is in that weight class.

For people who have never wrestled, wresting anyone a weight class or two ahead of you is murder... what he is doing is just amazing.

Jordan did not get injuried, it was the other guy that could not continue. Understand that Jordan is wrestling as a heavyweight, but only weighs 227 lbs. ,the guy he wrestled was about 255-260, the limit is 285 lbs here. they were tied up going out of bounds, when the ref blew the whistle Jordan in his motion threw the guy into the table and chairs were they keep score. The rule is that if you cannot continue in 2 minutes you win by default. So the guy did not get up and he won the match. It was seen by a lot of people that the number 2 guy in the heavyweight division in the state was told to stay down by his coaches. So Jordan had to wrestle for third place which he did win. He has gone against guys that have him by 40+ lbs, and has been sucessful, from what I have been told by his coaches, it is his strength and speed that allows him to do the things he has done this year on the mat.

To the post that he cut weight, he does not wont to go down he would rather wrestle up, the 215 division is happy as hell he did not come there trust me.

Thanks for the info 83, it's awesome that Jordan knows he could cut weight and wrestle at 215, but still decides to challenge himself as well as build for the future by staying at Heavy and wrestling in mismatches (sizewise)

Camels unfazed by runner-up finishes
BY JAMES WEBER | [email protected]

FRANKFORT, Ky. - Being tackled by a future Ohio State linebacker sounds like a good excuse, but Billy Fuller offered none.

Fuller, a Campbell County senior, finished as state runner-up in the 285-pound division Feb. 16 in the state wrestling meet at the Frankfort Convention Center.

He lost in a third-period fall to Anthony Bailey of Fort Knox, the top-ranked grappler in the state and a 2007 runner-up.

"I worked hard all season," Fuller said. "I conditioned as good as I could, and I went out there and did as much as I could. I made it to the finals which I always wanted to do."

Fuller finished with a 61-2 record and won his second state medal.
He was set back in the finals by a bruised knee, which he suffered in his semifinal win over Jordan Whiting of Trinity.

Whiting, who signed to play football for Ohio State earlier this month, threw Fuller out of bounds and into some empty chairs surrounding the mat.

Fuller was on the floor for several minutes and eventually walked off under his own power. Whiting was disqualified for an illegal throw, but was apologetic to the Camels afterward...

I am not one to say when someone is not telling the truth, however Fuller did not wear a brace, nor was he injuried, after all of that happened in the match, he came up to Jordan and told him that his coaches told him to stay down, also Fuller spoke with Baily during the break before the finals and told him there was NOTHING wrong with him at all, it was his coaches idea.

Also he has not signed with the "Buckeyes" as much as he would love to, he is only a junior.
