While some may feel Burger?s decision is an easy one considering his legacy status, Ohio State is a program that has shown interest in him for several months.
?One of the things with Ohio State is they showed some interest this fall,? said Burger. ?So I?ve always been thinking about them as I visited for the Wisconsin game and had a positive experience. Since Coach (Tim) Hinton got to Ohio State he stopped by LaSalle and said if I had interest in Ohio State they would love to have me as a preferred walk-on.

?It would be dumb of me not to check them out with Urban Meyer going up there as they are going to have some really good things going on up there in the next couple of years.?

La Salle senior linebacker Joe Burger considering UC and Ohio State as finalists

La Salle senior linebacker Joe Burger is considering UC and Ohio State as his finalists for preferred walk-on opportunities, Lancers coach Tom Grippa said this morning.

Burger plans to visit UC Friday and is expected to decide by Sunday, according to Grippa.

Burger, an Enquirer Division I all-area selection this past season, was first-team all-state and first-team all-district. He has been considering preferred walk-on opportunities at UC, Ohio State and Notre Dame, Grippa has said.

Burger was the GCL South linebacker of the year this past season. He led the Lancers with 103 tackles (60 solo), eight tackles for loss, a fumble recovery, one interception and five sacks.

His highlight film looks better than some scholarship players. And he's doing it against top notch competition. Steal.

I can't claim to be any kind of evaluator but it's the position I played, so I feel like I can comment. The film showed me one thing, this kid knows how to get off blocks. He sheds linemen or simply makes them miss all together. Color me jealous, I was never very good at that. Great motor and never lets up. Welcome aboard!
